Pros

You get to visit some decent countries

Cons

Long working hours with no overtime paid. up to 15hrs per day when you include travel to and from sites. Spent 75% of the year away from home and family with no reward or even a thank you . Expected to pay for your own business insurance on your own vehicle and if you don’t you will be left out in the cold earning zero money. Communication is non existent between instillation team, sales team and management. Higher level management talks down to employees and has zero respect for how physically demanding of the role can be. You will be required to travel over your weekend to ensure you get to site first thing Monday (only half a day was paid for this even if it took a hole day to get there) Over the past 12months 50% of the U.K. team have left the company due to all of the above with many more considering there options. Company policy is that only one vehicle is allowed to travel to site. This means extra time in your day will be required to pick up work colleagues or if you are staying away you will be stranded in your hotel unable to do what you want in the evening unless you are willing to pay for taxis

Pros

Travel around the US They cover travel costs and expenses Salaried pay Bonuses for travel

Cons

-Barely any work-life balance -Salary means no extra pay for weekend travel (Regular occurrence, at least 2-3 times a month) -When traveling, expect to get home at midnight or later on Friday REGULARLY if you're not traveling on a Saturday -Travel 75% of the month, still expected to be the manual labor team for other teams when home -Culture of sexism in upper management, very much a good ole boys club in certain teams -Pay is miserable for the amount of work you're expected to do both in the field and at home -Upper management does NOT care. They will pretend they do and regularly thank you for your work, but raises are maxed out at about 5%, and that requires you to sacrifice all your time -Management once told me "This can't keep happening" when I had to fly home due to a medical emergency with my spouse -Managers are completely unwilling to defend employees to customers or upper management -CEO bragged about having over $8Mil in surplus, but still pays the absolute lowest wages he can -Culture thrives on exploitation of employees goodwill, and very much will change what is expected of you after hiring you -Overall a very toxic, stressful and unrewarding place to work

Thank you. It is painful to hear such feedback about our company, but I appreciate that you took the time to share your comments. I can assure you that such negative employee / management engagements do not align with our values. Our managers have taken this opportunity to discuss openly with the installation team to ensure that the negative scenarios you described are no longer present in our company. In hiring for our field service and installation teams, NDSL is transparent that the travel will be 75 – 90% of the work schedule. As an offset to the high travel required, we offer site pay in addition to regular salary. Additionally, we recognize that, at times, an employee may have circumstances that make it difficult to sustain this level of travel. Some circumstances that are sudden and urgent, will and have, resulted in the employee returning home during a project. We strive to jointly determine how best to meet the employee’s needs without negatively impacting the service and quality our customers expect. When team members approach us with concerns about their travel time, we do our best to accommodate them while treating all team members fairly. We understand that the travel requirements for this position can be strenuous, and the job is not for everyone. We don't tolerate discrimination of any kind. The leadership team is expected to set an example and I insist that everyone in our leadership team treat everyone with respect and dignity. If someone fails to meet our standard, it will be addressed promptly and fairly. I do share openly with our team the successes of our company including the financial details. As part of our mission, we are open and want every employee to know when things are going well and when they are not. We also state that we share that information in confidence among our team members. We share the company’s financial success with all team members through our profit-sharing bonus or sales commissions. Thank you again for your feedback. We take every opportunity to improve our company and we will keep a close eye on the well-being of our installation team members.
