Questionable practices:
1. The distinction between government surveys and surveys for commercial enterprises is not made clear. Quite often good folk take the survey thinking they are contributing their opinion for the benefit of our nation, where in fact it is really for the benefit of commercial bodies.
2. Was told not to remind respondents they has the right to refuse a response, the question pertained to their household security alarm system.
Ineptitude of supervisors:
3. Unable to justify practices when pressed.
4. Poor treatment of staff from managers/ lacking in respect.
Negative environment:
5. Employees are constantly reminded they will be 'let go' if they fall below the average
6. They like to micro manage things like timing your bathroom breaks or not allowing you to drink from a coffee cup because it is not a mug, to not allowing the respondents to speak for too long and at one point preventing you from clarifying that it is NOT a government run survey.
Skills you actually learn:
7. Not very much, you are required to read off a script word for word. There is no flexibility, they may as well have a machine replace you, but they use you for the 'human aspect'.
The only benefit you get from this place is the money, $25 per hour (after your 10 shift probation at $20 per hour) but considering that you have to spend hours staring into a blue screen and listening to dial tones you are not doing your personal development any good. This combined with their poor treatment of their employees definitely outweighs the monetary benefits by a landslide. I spoke to a supervisor who mentioned that the turn over rate here is 3 weeks, my guess is any self respecting individual would leave this place quick smart.
