Such an awful experience, I changed careers.
Pros
The students were brilliant, was the highlight of my day helping residents get settled and organised. The overwhelming feeling of being used and abused by the company made me re-evaluate my life goals, and has thankfully put me on a better career path.
Cons
Senior management willing to throw you under the bus at any instance when things go wrong. There was an attitude of "us" and "them" throughout my time with the company. They sent a group up from London to do a building inspection, at numerous points during the visit, staff at all levels from the London opperation hinted to me that I was "replaceable". Numerous times I was undermined by the opperations manager based in London who would regularly speak directly with companies that had service agreements on the site. So basically undermined the running and management of the site at every available opportunity. I was also considering hiring a lawyer at points when employed by Nido as I was be accused of being racist by the opperations manager when there was a disagreement over cleaning services. The cynical level of character defamation almost ruined my career. I also lost a few family members during my short time with the company, I was heavily pressured back to work without any time off. I didn't have a weekend off the whole time I worked there. They put my personal mobile number on the company website as a 24/7 contact. They mis-sold rooms under the impression that there was night porters when it was a total lie.
