Pros

Other budtenders make the job bearable, as well as many of the amazing customers. Also, you get a discount.

Cons

Company policies are restrictive and dehumanizing. It does not feel like a welcoming environment, management is grossly incompetent when it comes to people management, and the management beneath is even more so. Adequate training is not provided, you are left to your own devices and no feedback is given, other than negative, and it's usually delivered via text message or passive aggressively through signing forms "reminding" you of their policies, which again are restrictive and counter productive to a fully inclusive and welcoming environment. It starts from the top down, one of the worst retailers I have personally worked for in terms of how they treat their staff. The head of the company won't even acknowledge you as existing if he ever walks into your store, which is a huge indicator of how he views all of his employees. It's very much sink or swim, every person for themselves, which creates an unwelcome environment. Break schedules are rarely followed according to Provincial and Federal employment laws, the lack of hours for staff make it difficult to manage large groups of customers the way One Plant expects customers to be managed. The digital media tablets are practically useless to customers, and proper training for staff on how to engage customers using the tablets was never provided. Telling staff they need to use them with customers is not training.

Pros

-you will get a discount

Cons

-lack of care for safety of employees -stressful environment -communication with management proved incredibly difficult and eventually futile -beyond disorganized (there would be weeks where the schedule wasnt completed until the day before the following week as well as i had to wait 30 minutes for the interview to start when the store was not busy, the assistant manager was having a casual conversation with a bud tender) -improper training, the assistant managers were seemingly never taught to train properly yet the manager would get upset at you, who wasnt trained properly in the first place, at not knowing what to do and would be extremely condescending. -they would be very adamant about ¨the sales average¨. you do not get commission in any way yet they would constantly tell you about the average and ask you to bring it up and upsell which constantly proved difficult as they boast a cheap reputation with how they advertise. -racist workplace -extremely misogynistic -one bud tender didnt have to go through the interview process because a family friend owned the franchise, whenever they interacted with customers they would barely help them and rather lead them to a self serve, it really seemed like they didnt have their CanSell at all. (they bragged about not having to do the interview and they ¨just got hired¨) -manager bragged about how all the original staff left ¨crying¨ because they ¨couldnt handle retail¨ -¨sales associate¨ title when it is retail and there is no bonus, commission or anything of the sales nature. they simply just encourage you to upsell even when its not a good product. -cannot take cash tips, highly discouraged
