Pros

I have recently started at Open Systems and I am happy about it. The onboarding process is very well thought, and gives an extensive introduction to the company, its services and departments. Strategies and figures are shared with all the employees and I appreciate such open approach. For people with a technical background there is an internal certification which is an opportunity to learn a lot, especially for young graduates. Colleagues are nice and there are many occasions to socialize, in particular during activities spontaneuosly organized by the employees. There is an eye for quality, in terms of working environment and equipment: amazing rooftop, cozy cafè area, excellent computer monitor and standing desk. From a technical point of view the code basis is good and the system is well engineered.

Cons

Swiss german / High german might be required for career advancement

Hello! We value your feedback, and we are glad you liked the onboarding process. We do require some German-speaking skills for positions that have communication with Swiss/German customers. On a positive note, we now have many management positions covered by English speakers. A great perk to all Switzerland employees, who pass their probation period, are eligible for private German classes, paid by Open Systems. If you're interested, please stop by our HR office to learn more.

Pros

Remote-first policy with decent equipment and flexible hours. Interesting technical challenges, especially in the areas of automation and network. Some smart and dedicated colleagues in technical teams.

Cons

Company culture can feel arrogant and dismissive of individual voices. Management lacks empathy and tends to micromanage or shift priorities without consulting engineers. Psychological safety is low — open criticism is not well received, which discourages honest feedback. Poor handling of long-term health issues. HR and management showed little initiative to resolve an extended medical leave situation, which ultimately led to a mutual termination. Limited career growth and recognition, especially for those not aligned with internal politics. Communication often felt top-down, and transparency was lacking during critical periods.

Pros

Working environment(s) and hybrid working model. Culture of encouraging questions and everybody (no matter how junior or senior) willing to support and point you in the right direction. Diversity & Inclusion and Wellbeing focus provides a refreshing strategy to recruitment, retention and L&D to support the entire company. Due to the nature of the business you are surrounded by incredibly intelligent and experienced colleagues that can really help drive new thought processes and career.
