Paranoid, out of touch managers and uninspiring work environment...

Pros

It’s hard to think of any, but a few of the general team are really great people, and you are always united in your confusion of what is going through the senior leaderships heads!

Cons

Too many managers. The senior managers are very paranoid and scared to make ANY decisions. They hire bright, young people, with great ideas but then constantly block them from doing anything - especially if it means they might look better than them. There is no clear leadership or direction, nobody has any idea what they are supposed to be working towards. For a tech company, the tech is non existent! Everything takes ages to be completed and decided, which makes it feel like a big corporate, but it’s far from, and not in a good way!

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with Openpay. While it would seem from your review that we have fallen short of meeting your expectations, I remain hopeful that as a current employee, you consider reaching out to our People team so we can gain further information and hopefully address your concerns. We don’t wish for any of our team to feel as though their efforts each day are not recognised or appreciated and would like to help. As you know, over the past 12 months, a lot has been achieved at Openpay. Achievements, which are in large part, due to the quick thinking and smart decisions being made our team. Their thirst to innovate & explore ways that we can evolve and improve our product – which seems to be working as we continue to grow, even in times of such extreme uncertainty as we are at present. While we understand that sometimes we could do things better, we’re pretty proud that in our recent team member survey, over 80% of our team said that their manager provides them with all the support they need to succeed, that we strongly support the health and wellbeing of our team and the ways we manage performance, enables our team to contribute as much as possible to our success. We won’t stop working on being better though! Communication and transparency both play a key role in how each member of our team is kept in the loop. Our fortnightly town hall meetings are a great forum where every member of our team – from across the globe, can remain informed. We communicate our direction, our progress, what’s next and most importantly, we celebrate the achievements of those who have played a big role in getting us there. If you haven’t taken the opportunity to join these calls, I really encourage you to. The live Q&A is a big hit with the team – with the opportunity for anybody to ask the questions that matter to them, directly to our senior leadership team, you definitely get to see what is going through their heads!

Pros

The welcome package you receive.

Cons

HR were unhelpful when it came to reporting about bad management. Awful management. The company puts on a facade by conducting numerous global meetings. Within the internal teams there was a lot of bullying tactics and poor management. What is up with the swearing and using team meetings to discuss other members in different departments? Very unprofessional. The worst company I’ve ever worked for and briefly lowered my confidence. It took moving to a new company to realise the hell i was in.

Hi There, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Increasing flexibility for team members has been important to us as we navigate our way in and out of COVID lockdowns - this is something that will remain part of who we are long after the pandemic, including a hybrid working model which our team told us, was important to them. Career progression is another important aspect to how we retain and engage our team. With the UK being a satellite office for Openpay, it does provide some challenges for progression given the size and role types that exist. We have been working hard on our new global levelling framework which will provide every member of our team with the progression opportunities that exist within a job type as well as the vertical, horizontal and diagonal moves which exist based on factors such as transferrable skills, previous experience etc.. This is just one way that we are supporting the growth of our team. To provide Equal Opportunity for all Openpay team members, we advertise every role internally and have an internal recruitment process for team members to apply and be considered. We have an internal target of at least 15% advertised roles being offered to existing team members and are exceeding that target so far this year. Last month alone, over 25% of roles were offered to members of our existing team. The P&C team are here to help - I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your career goals so that we can understand how we can support you to achieve those at Openpay. I hope you reach out! Marcus
