Salary is based on the company's local factors instead of where the employee lives, resulting in severe underpayment if you live in a higher COL state. The company tries to operate in a very corporate way, but it's still a small business so you get the worst of both worlds in many ways - e.g., review structure intended to give as few people raises as possible on the corporate side and a lot of incompetent people who have been moved up into positions because they've stayed with the company long enough rather than because they're actually good at their job on the small business side.
