You won't get a performance review because odds are, you and/or your boss won't be around long enough to warrant one. Management creates a fear-based culture where everyone is out for themselves. Turnover is extremely high -- only people who have been there 1 year+ have a solid enough grasp on their jobs, and those people are rare. There are a ton of upper-level executives who don't understand the insane amounts of work (combination of what should be multiple jobs) they are putting on teams of 1-2 people.
