Needs direction and a clear mission

Pros

Lots of amazing content and good networking opportunities (in certain positions). Plenty of good employees who never get a chance to shine. If you're willing to take on more and more work, you can at least increase the skills that may be marketable for your next job.

Cons

Tons of leadership upheaval in the past few years. Almost no employees seem to agree with the overall direction and strategy of the institution and very few people are happy or well-compensated. Absolutely no chance for advancement and raises were non-existent.

I used to think this place had potential

Pros

You get to meet a lot of celebrities. You have access to all media that has been digitized on your computer. There are some really good people that work here and work hard. They don't have anything to do with the decision making though.

Cons

They have been operating in the red for a long time. It seems as though management does not know how to run a functional business. AKA no raises and more workload.

A non-profit in decline

Pros

A lot of talented and dedicated people as colleagues.

Cons

Executives in charge completely misunderstand what a cultural institution can and should be. Their focus is simply on making money. High turnover in multiple departments, with a perpetually revolving door.

Pros

The Paley Center for Media, like many companies, has a lot of perks and cons. Some of the perks are an easy commute because of the proximity of the office to different subways, access to exciting exhibits and events, and working with a collective of people who are truly passionate about what they do. The people are Paley are thoughtful, honest, team oriented, and hard workers. In order to do well and immerse yourself, you have to be passionate about your craft and what Paley does and plans to do in the future. I work on a lot of things and learned a lot from my team.

Cons

Some of the cons are that some employees are slow to make decisions and move things along. This has lead to some work/life balance issues where people work late/after hours. The office is a little dated but overall well maintained except for the kitchen microwaves.
