Pros
Good compensation, good culture, some very smart and creative people. Exciting technology in some areas.
Cons
Management dysfunction in various places from the top down. Like many successful privately-owned companies, it's run more like a startup or fiefdom than a corporation, but the company is too big for that approach to work well. HP's gut feel is no longer the optimal arbiter for making corporate decisions. Some severe personnel difficulties I witnessed could have been avoided had the company embraced management development and high-quality HR best practice properly.
