Pros

• Ask not what your company can do for you -- ask what's for lunch. • If you like fixing broken things, this is the perfect place for you. • "[At Picarro], we always ship". That's what people told me when I first started. Three years later, I realized the company would knowingly ship bad / broken / not tested instruments to customer to meet quarter revenue... So dead or alive, we always ship. • The company put a [temporary] freeze on shipping bad instrument. I was let go because no instrument was shipped. • Do you love customer service? Great! You can add extensive experience in dealing with mad customers, who paid a lot of money for bad instrument, to your resume! • Picarro provides a great environment for meeting new people because employees come and go every week! • If you want to go outside and smoke all day, go for it! Nobody will care. This is the place where you'll have mind over matter... because if you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Cons

Are you lonely? Tired of working on your own? Don't know how to make decisions? HOLD A MEETING. No action, talk only.

Pros

The talented employees are the greatest asset of this company. One of the smartest scientist and engineers in Silicon Valley and the world. The new VP of HR is a world class professional and trying his best to address all the legacy ills of Picarro, one at a time.

Cons

Absent CEO (Alex Balkanski). Has a very condescending attitude and often engages in public dressing-down of reportees and employees. Has a serious lack of leadership and avoids tackling issues head-on. Prefers a backstabbing approach with those who disagree with him. Compensation-wise, execs are over-compensated while the rest of the employees are under-compensated. Execs are a group of vultures trying to swoop on each other whenever they have a chance. Unusually high turn around of key employees in various departments.
