The worst Firm ever

Pros

Probably medium-large company. It is nice to meet people with different skills and backgrounds.

Cons

- Simply the worst firm ever. Not recommended. The worst Firm ever. I do not recommend it at all. - Small (and bad) projects despite the size of the Firm; - The Company's alleged reputation is not supported by the quality of the services provided, generally very poor; - The Firm is extremely behind regarding Sustainability Protocols, BIM Standards and Virtual Reality; - The method of work is not adequate to the needs of the industry anymore: AutoCAD is still predominant, even in the Architecture department, where projects are not developed in a proper BIM environment; - People are treated without respect: the rule of the circle of friends applies; - Some Departments are underresourced, so often the staff works despite the specific role and skills set; - Poor middle, senior and top management; - Extremely poor time and resources management; - Lack of opportunities to grow and improve; - Lack of communications between management and staff; - Too many managers in comparison to the size of Departments and members of staff; - The managers work to protect their position in the Firm only; - Bad work environment: people are backstabbers, constantly blaming others for their mistakes; - Dated culture and poor values, despite what marketing campaigns state;

Pros

Unfortunately very few Pros to working here. Some very good people, who are badly let down by weak management.

Cons

* All of the disciplines are terribly under resourced. There were numerous projects I worked on where senior management knowingly asked the wrong disciplines to carry out work they were not qualified to do… Leaving the company terribly exposed. Not great for the engineers / surveyors being asked to do the work either. *The size and complexity of the projects that PE are involved in across the board is terrible when compared with the size of the company. If you like working on decent sized projects, with dynamic teams then PE is not for you. *Despite what the marketing material suggests, PE are not particularly well regarded within the construction industry or by the clienst they are employed by. I have spoken with several ex-clients who have voiced concern about the way PE are set up to deliver projects. They felt badly let down by senior management and bemoaned the lack of input at key times from any senior PE representative. Extreme frustration directed at PE employees in progress meetings is common place from client representatives. * The company has been badly left behind with regards to BIM requirements. They are nowhere near being BIM compliment. Lip service doesn’t make you compliant and that’s all PE are able to do. * If progression is what you are looking for, then your face better fit! It’s a backwards company if your looking to progress your career. In my 6 years at the company I witnessed many particularly good employees get fed up and leave due to poor progression opportunities and the lack of respect shown to them during their time in this firm. * As far as cultures go, there really isn’t one to speak of. Workplace bullying and ‘hard’ management practices are common place from the top down. At times PE can be a very unpleasant place to work. * PE have a huge problem with disciplines being under resourced and under skilled. Because of this pressure on resource, any type of training / CPD is completely lacking. It’s not said openly, but you’re expected to complete CPD and any other training on your own time. *I see the average score for PE as a company on glass door is 3*, I think that’s incredibly generous. The recent financial performance of the company highlights the general wholesale failure across the board. * PE have unfortunately selected a board of directors that are the worst board I have come across at managing strategic growth throughout the business. The pipeline when I left the company was in a very sorry state. The future doesn’t look great for PE across the UK. Be careful! My 6 years with the company was largely wasted and I feel like my career has been stunted as a result.
