Lacking REAL Leadership

Pros

There are truly some good employees -- It's just too bad they all eventually go. I watched a new guy hire in, completely flip the place to a whole new level, then get stomped on and treated like garbage. Turns out he wasn't so replaceable, the content coming out of that department now is garbage.

Cons

Leadership is busy paying attention to numbers and not their employees. Not one "leader" understands what it takes to drive their business from a creative services standpoint. If you're not a suck up you won't last. HR will find ways to take advantage of you and leadership isn't blind to it, either.

Pros

Great products and a well-established, well-respected company. Pitsco has been around for over 50 years helping really build the STEM education market. The direct sales management is stellar and some of the best people I've ever worked for. Other salespeople are very quick to help and provide guidance whenever it's needed. A wide array of products and solutions allows you to customize a package for schools that fits their needs.

Cons

While there are a lot of great things about Pitsco most of them are held back by a very top-down leadership approach where important decisions are made with little to no input from frontline salespeople. I was let go from Pitsco, not even a week after being put on a PiP and being told I would have a full quarter to satisfy the requirements of the PiP. This was after my first year with the company managing a territory that had been historically under-performing yet still showing 35% growth.

Pros

Some of the best people I've ever worked with The products are awesome, and there's no problem buying into the success they bring

Cons

There is ZERO room for growth Nepotism runs rampant Morale is not a concern. It's more important to save $40 on a plane ticket than to make sure the employee gets home a day earlier. Zero flexibility in hours. If you've put in 60 hours by the end of Thursday, (entirely plausible during busy season), you better be in at 8 on Friday morning. Harvey is pretty removed from it all now, and it is obvious.
