Pros

As a manager you will be taken to spain for a company trip once a year (its not as nice as it sounds, its all business. Though it's all paid for) as a consultant, theres nothing

Cons

Commision structure is far below the industry standard (1-1.5% on ex VAT sales figures. nearly every other company has a rate of at least 5% or above with the same level of quality and cost). you are worked like a dog and treated as one too as a manager you have ZERO authorisation over how you run your showroom or discounts for large deals. you must go through someone else whose whole job is to retain as much profit as he can while you are tryoing to push as much product as you can. the additional discount on a £40,000 order was 2% (yes thats a serious offer). Senior management are deluded into thinking the method of belittling and berating their staff is effective at invoking change. you will not be trained, you will learn to do it yourself and suffer the consequences when its wrong, despite never being shown the correct way. I once took a leadership course with other managers and the MD, it wqas quite obvious in our next meeting that this didnt work for him given his bad attitude and lack of care or interest in his staffs ideas or concerns. the showroom is face value, all of the profit is through developers or third party so if you are a showroom consultant you will be constantly screwed over by third party reps and the account managers for trades. also this leaves very litttle for staff so they will become so desperate to hit targets for the month they will take orders from each other. In 2018/9 there was a huge data breah in the south east region, the HR assistant sent personal info such as names, addresses, phone numbers, pay, etc.... to all the managers in the region of every member of staff. The MD was just concerned about himself (surprise surprise). They got the IT guy to remotly log in to peoples emails and manually delete them from everyones inbox. not realising it can still be retrieved from the server. Nothing was ever said or reported and you risked being sacked fom doing the right thing and reporting it. I was hiring staff for a showroom and got denied a second interview for guy with good sales history because he was a guy. The phrase used was 'wouldnt it be nice to see young attractive women at the opening. i trust you can do it'. so now forcing staff to act illegallyt through recruiting and not offering the right people the position they deserve. If you attend the Watford Christmas party, once the MD is gone the toilets will be full of fitters, account managers and sales staff doing enough coke to make pablo escobar blush. It is a hugely racist place for promotion. theres a reason all the senior staff are spanish....oh, and none are women....... i will let you all think about that and come to your own conclusion. Then we move on to the pricing, the pricing is extortionate. when they are buying products from their own manfacturing plant for around £15 per m2 and then you have to sell it on a 40% off price for over £60 per m2. oh thats only 3-4 months a year, at all other times you will be lucky to get 20% off. oh, the third paty companies will undercut you constantly to take away business outside of sale periods because of the structure they have made for themselves. as customers you are bent over the table and we dont even have the courtesy of saying thanks for it either. once you have handed over your money, customer service will become non existent. I have seen account managers steal customers and orders time and time again but because they make enough money they continue to work there. i have seen showroom staff sacked immediatly for the same thing on their first offence for a fraction of the value. if you make enough money you can do what you want!!! the last piece i will leave you with is that the showroom staff are seen as disposable by the comnapny, they dont care for you. if you have a great month, they will fnd something to moan about rather than offering the credit deserved. if you want a career in an enviorment as toxic as the relationship between amber heard and jonny depp, then this is the place for you.

Pros

Massive range of products, great potential to clients. Nice to go to Spain with clients.

Cons

Budgets set far too high, once you have done well, you get penalised for it the next year. Personal targets unachievable - well over overall company growth. Completely anti sales with the internal policies such as ordering process, opening accounts, collections & deliveries, opening hours, lead times on products. Business model goal posts move all the time. Lost far too many sales due to all of the above, nothing any good sales person can fix.
