Pros

If you want to work for a "tech" company in Springfield, this is more or less your only option.

Cons

Management is worse than non existent, bordering on actively engaged in tearing down the company. There is no cohesive vision for the company's future (which is becoming exceedingly bleak), and it is obvious current management is more focused on public appearance than actually solving anything. Pay & benefits are dismal, especially for professional-level positions. Advancement opportunities are effectively non existent, and largely dependent on whether 1 of the 4 or so "factions" likes you and wants you to come to their section of the company. No understanding of work-life balance, nor any incentive to perform, as whatever you do will be undermined or otherwise negated.

Pros

Fantastic opportunity to work with great people and gain experience in a manufacturing company with facilities abroad (Puerto Rico, France, China, India, Singapore).

Cons

If you are salaried, anticipate the possibility of working more than 40 hours per week without additional compensation and ultimately make less than co-workers who may be paid hourly. If you are paid hourly, anticipate that you may have seasons/frequent bursts of long working hours. For IT jobs, Positronic pays wages less than the local average while keeping staff count to a minimum and to be part of the 24/7 on call rotation if you are salaried. Positronic takes advantage of classifying employees as salaried exempt so that they can be overworked without compensation. Vacation time is practically 1.5 to 2 weeks per year unless you work at this company for 5+ years; holidays and plant shutdown days use your accrued Paid Time Off to make up for time not worked (and thus it can be argued that HR falsely 'advertises' 3 weeks of vacation per year). Many people who have worked at this company for a long time do it out of enjoyment (as wages are low). Sales personnel are always constantly on their toes and held to their limits; micro managed. Vacation time, wages, and staff counts kept to a minimum make professional & personal development very challenging to impossible (for some) with minimal incentives from the Company.

Pros

Little to no pressure with no accountability. Decent clean safe work environment with AC in summer. Fairly consistent workload/ schedules

Cons

The only problem solving method is to throw labor at it, hopefully cheap labor. Old school managers promoted from within without having qualifications led to no actual engineering talent on staff. The whole system was built without any vision so is very haphazard. Difficult to see any improvement coming.
