Pros

It’s rare to find a job that affords both fascinating work and clear professional growth opportunities, and even more rare to find a job you love. My experience at Powell has been the most rewarding of my career. I’ve learned an incredible amount about client and account management and think creatively and strategically for clients on a daily basis. The teams consistently go above and beyond for clients and each other, providing professional support and unparalleled strategy. I encourage anyone that is driven and passionate about creativity and business to look at job opportunities at Powell.

Pros

Best for entry-level since you’re thrown into work and have client-facing tasks. You're able to learn a lot in terms of account management. The vacation policy is good if you’re senior. For entry level it’s pretty basic but not the worst. They offer basic healthcare, pay into your HSA account and transit budget (believe they paused this amidst COVID). No 401k. The office is nicely decorated, however, the company is WFH for the foreseeable future.

Cons

The company has changed significantly as a result of COVID. There has always been a lot of disorganization with upper management and often they don't communicate enough. Their response to COVID was strange. They abruptly laid off employees after insisting there wouldn't be any, and offered bare minimum support (just one month of COBRA), leaving many confused and disrespected. They often insist that you manage up which is fine, but they really insist too much. The clients they were bringing on this year were also very different from the past. Less creative/advertising and more tech. A lot of client turnover. They don’t often promote from within or give raises. Their salary rate runs on the lower end, especially considering the amount of responsibility they put on middle/lower level employees. They insist it's "industry standard" but they're actually about $10k-$15k below industry standard. Just do your research before you accept a position/salary here. They don't have a proper employee review set up internally which makes it difficult for employees to have an opportunity to ask for raises/promotions.
