Pros

Working at the site level could be a good resume builder if you are at a strong site. Opportunities to travel.

Cons

No training no cohesiveness at the corporate level- Lots of fighting, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing Family members that do not pull their weight are holding executive positions, Donna (CEO) surrounds herself with "yes" people and will not take criticism or advice They are obsessed with getting bigger and not better Poor accounting practices- some bordering illegal They stretch their employees to thin and hold everyone to different standards Not much support from the corporate level Poor communication They have two VP's who cannot stand each other- one makes all the decisions (most questionable at best), while the other sits back and criticizes but does nothing to change it Promote people who are not ready and then do not support them False promises are often made to employees to get what they want out of them. This company will milk you for all you're worth and then dump you in a heartbeat if you let them.

Pros

I had the pleasure of working for the Preiss Company after they purchased properties in South FL, from the former management company. Coming in, I was excited to grow, add and collaborate on ideas and looked forward to longevity with the company, especially based on the feedback received in the interview. 1 month in, I realized that I was a part of a ship sinking very fast, and tried everything in my power to keep it afloat. My manager was not very strong in his role, at no fault of his own, but due to inadequate preparation and training for the position. Unfortunately, the environment because so tense and uncomfortable, that no one really wanted to work there anymore, leading just about everyone on staff to see jobs elsewhere. Working there (in a management role) I had no designated workspace, and was forced to use a break room as my office. Management talks down to their employees, treats adults like children. As someone that was in the property management industry for several years prior and very successful in my roles, this was an environment that truly almost made me leave property management altogether. Although the pay is pretty good, If student housing is not your thing, THIS IS NOT the company for you to work for.

Cons

Poor management Poor employee treatment/training Low morale Reaching out to managers for assistance, and receiving no response Poor work/life balance (non existent)

Pros

Still thinking on that one.

Cons

Worst email etiquette of any company I've ever worked for. The excessive REPLY ALL emails, especially from upper management, EVERY SINGLE DAY was both infuriating and a hindrance to work flow. Pay was not competitive and was not something to live off of. They push commission as an incentive to work harder, but potential commission earnings are capped tremendously at smaller properties and then heavily taxed. Preiss Company does not care about its employees.
