I cannot stress strongly enough how horrible this company was to work for. Management hadn't got a clue how to motivate staff or how to deal with staff concerns, the management wouldn't know what a management skill was if it jumped up and bit them. Senior management are male chauvinists, they have no respect for women. In the 2 years I worked there senior management addressed me on more than one occasion as sweetheart or darlin, because they didn't know my name. Salary was 21,000 per year for a 40 hour week. We received 3/4 of an hour break per day. The work load was enormous. There was no hot water available to warehouse or customer service/transport staff to wash our hands, this wasn't just for the time I was there, there never had been. The toilets were appalling and the smell would make you sick to your stomach. Urinals in the men's toilets were leaking, at one point buckets were placed under them, urine was trickling out the door of the toilets which I might add was right opposite to the canteen provided for customer service/ transport/warehouse staff. Thecanteen had a shore in the floor where the smell of sewage was present. There were no sanitary facilities for women and if caught out unexpectedly - tough luck. One kettle was provided for all warehouse, CS and Transport Staff- up to 100 staff . There was no adequate heating provided at any time during the year, in winter two free standing heaters were used in the CS/transport department which I might add is a health and safety issue,. I recorded temperatures of less than 4 degrees regularly in CS/Transport Office, two of the windows in this office didn't open and two didn't close. In summer we were fried in winter we were frozen. Staff regularly worked in coats and scarves in winter, I was always freezing in winter to the point my fingers were so cold I found it difficult to type. Under no circumstances were you to get sick. It wasn't appreciated if you complained either, you were to shut up and put up. Complaints were sneered at and undermined. These are the true conditions for staff at this company, I could go on and on all day. I have only logged a very small percentage of what life is like to work in Primeline. If you decide to work for this company don't expect to advance your career and under no circumstances ask for a pay rise because you won't get one regardless of how much work you do or excel at. If you're a woman get back to the sink because your opinion doesn't count. Staff leaving was like rush hour at central station. All three senior managers should be ashamed to call themselves managers, staff are treated like something they have wiped of the bottom of their shoe especially women. Women are not paid the same as their male colleuges even though they are doing the same job. Need I say more? I think I should. I was absolutely delighted to see the back of the place when I left. I moved on to a company that treats me with respect and gauged my salary on my years of experience, I now earn over 12,000 more a year than when working with Primeline for basically using the same skills I had when employed by them.
My advise to anyone applying for a job there is don't , you will with absolute certainty be undervalued and never given credit for a job well done. HR is in cahoots with management and doesn't have the skills to do the job. A member of management is a HR director, the HR department is supposed to be a completely separate entity to management. How are you supposed to log complaints to HR about your manager when your manager is interfering in the HR process. Lastly I would like to say I have never worked for a worse company in all of my 25+ years of being employed, the company is a disgrace, bullying is rife with management being the biggest abusers.
