Terrible Owner

Pros

There use to be a nice crew of people

Cons

The owner is absolutely out of control. He screams, yells, and says cruel things about his staff in front of other employees. Multiple people have walked out over the past year due to his outburst and poor treatment. So many have left that I’m shocked they are still in business.

Pros

Two weeks off and paid during Christmas holiday & most of the people were great to work with.

Cons

I used to work at PGI for 2 1/2 years and I’ve seen and heard many negative things from the owner. I can go on and on and list many things that I didn’t find appealing while working there. I believe it’s hard for anyone to try to confront the owner. He is a complete narcissist and only cares about money. He literally doesn’t care about his employees because he likes to yell at them. Nobody deserves to be treated like that. I wouldn’t be surprised if this business shutdowns.

Pros

The People... People are always the best part of any organization, they work hard and are kind. Organic Food Beverage industry is great, lots of awesome people out there you might be able to get a chance to work with.

Cons

Interview Process- most likely you will get hired same day, question that. You will also be promised a certain wage or bonus structure, take note, even record on your phone your offer, it will change. Training - Not really any training besides what you learn from a team mate. Team- turn over is out of control, people either quit without notice or are fired without any review, coaching or corrective actions. Eager, passionate people who want to help and make a difference get yelled at so many times that they become unmotivated, scared and silent. Reviews- you won't get any, maybe one a the 6 month mark. Other than that you will be called into an office and belittled and bullied, you will not be able to have a professional discussion. Human Resources- this is a private company and there is no one to talk to when the CEO, VP or any other manager treats you with disrespect or you get hurt on the job and need an advocate on your side. Environment - OSHA Red flag, no regard for training on safe practices in production, team members lifting pallets, climbing racks, and not provided appropriate safety gear for the job. Injuries - If you happen to get a rash or break a bone while working for PGI, they will accuse you of lying and fraud and threaten to sue you, wow! Look into lawsuits against the CEO and PGI. Breaks & Hours- they frown upon 15 minute breaks and most salaried positions work through their lunches and don't take any breaks, often taking their computers home as well to do more unappreciated work for PGI. When you leave, company policy is not to pay out vacation hours accrued. Integrity - there is none and you will begin to lose yours trying to do your job for them Smell and Safety- Since they are processing raw materials, every day after work you will smell like whatever was in production. Chiles will make you cough and your eyes burn. Air filtration for worker safety in offices lacking, makes me wonder what long term effects there are of inhaling small herb particles daily. Your time and career - if you think CEO and VP like you, you are hard working and secure, think again. These two are secretive, scheming and selfish, will do anything for profit. First sign you are being let go, they will take over your email. Stress- super stressful work environment, especially end of the month, pressure to hit monthly goal, causes production errors, questionable quality releases, and bad customer service, all of which hurts the bottom line of PGI, but they will never recognize this. Middle Management- learns quick to say yes and agree to anything CEO and VP direct. There is NO trust in their team, they do NOT empower people, nor do they listen to any ideas other than their own, which has serious consequences as turn over is one of the most costly things any organization can endure. Big ideas - nothing ever changes, there is a lot of talk on improvement, no action.
