Pros

Solid mission statement. Opportunity to help real people who are experiencing unemployment or underemployment gain the skills and confidence to compete in the workforce. Lots of life changing outcomes.

Cons

I worked for the workforce development division that helps students get federal or local grants to pay for their schooling. Because grant availability is affected by lots of things that are outside of the school and potential student's control, it is sometimes hard to predict outcomes or set projections. Also, internally, there are lots of disconnects between depts. i.e. marketing and sales. In my case, because I was a subordinate position (low in hierarchy) my ideas, observations, suggestions, concerns etc, were mostly ignored and if I persisted in trying to have a voice, I was reprimanded and told to stay in my "lane" (in fairness this really only came from one manager...I had 3 direct mgrs in 2 yrs. 1 ignored me, one was very engaging and encouraging but he resigned after 1 month, and one was borderline hostile) . I cold-called potential students and set appts w enrollment advisors. In conversing with the candidate I would get a feel for how to approach the sale- but offering suggestions or advice to certain enrollment advisors was definitely walking on eggshells. I learned that it would be best to detach myself from outcomes. I realize that some fault may be mine (maybe I'm annoying or have terrible ideas) but I had never gotten anything but glowing reviews for 2 years out of my 2 yrs 3 months of employment. Full transparency- I was terminated for insubordination. I will say, from the students perspective, they did a good job. Strong instructors. Lots of employment help. (students were in fact getting jobs as a result of the training! The school telling students they will help them get hired was not just lip service..it was legit) My issues regard internal operations in which students not directly affected. Maybe just sour grapes, I don't think so though. Because I was never upset or disgruntled. Just a little bummed. It was kind of a passion project job.

Pros

Nothing this company is a scam

Cons

Working at QuickStart was a disappointing experience. Leadership lacked transparency, priorities shifted constantly, and decisions affecting employees were made abruptly with little regard for impact. Expectations were unclear, processes were disorganized, and support from management was minimal. The culture felt reactive and transactional rather than collaborative or professional. Job security and employee well-being did not appear to be priorities.
