Dysfunctional and toxic

Pros

Central location and good annual leave allowance

Cons

66 Portland Place is quite literally rotting away, and is the perfect metaphor for the disintegration of RIBA. I’ve never worked in a more dysfunctional environment, where bullying is rife and accountability is scarce. There is constant political infighting amongst senior staff, and blame is thrown around in every direction. The working conditions are shameful, especially considering the nature of the institution. It’s ironic that this is by far the worst office building I have ever experienced. Great people are consistently driven to resign as a result of the appalling company culture, meaning knowledge and experience are lacking across the board. My very strong advice is steer well clear.

Pros

There is no pros, I joined thinking it would be great

Cons

This is the worst working environment I’ve ever experienced, the working environment is extremely toxic. There is extreme hierarchy and bullying within the institution, no one is ever held accountable. I have never experienced such poor working conditions considering how nice the external building is, the office for workings is dull , cold and you are micromanage to the point that it is intolerable. The management is awful, I’m surprised this institution and how it’s run is stil surviving. This job ruined my mental health!

Toxic Enviroment

Pros

Some staff and the pension scheme

Cons

66 Portland Place is, unfortunately, deteriorating significantly, serving as a fitting symbol for the crumbling state of RIBA. I have yet to encounter a more chaotic workplace, where intimidation is widespread and responsibility is notably absent. The working conditions are deplorable, a fact that is particularly striking given the institution's purpose. It's a paradox that this is the most substandard office building I've ever had to endure. Exceptional individuals are routinely compelled to quit due to the dreadful organisational culture and the bullies in senior roles, leading to a pervasive lack of knowledge and experience. I would strongly avoid working here
