Pros

The yard is centrally located and it is easy to get to and from work. Also, they usually provide you with a hard hat and a vest for free.

Cons

Whoever has the job to reply to the Schnitzer Steel comments must be bored out of his mind! Constant reply to contact HR Business Partner is hilarious. Easy to say at corporate skyscraper but in yards we distrust our HR Business Partner more than any one in the whole yard. Tell him about problems or safety risks and we’ll likely be fired soon.. Many posts said to review other comments and I listened b/c job searchers need good comments from people who work at the yard 1. After all the reviews on this site it would seem it's your own fault for deciding to work there, putting up with the ridiculous hours, lack of support and disrespectful environment only to be shown the door. 2. Do your underlings a favor and either quit or retire. Please. Chairman of the board. 3. It's not what you know, it's who you know. A toxic environment that thrives on using fear tactics and intimedation. 4. There is simply no direction from the top at MRB. They are all long time buddies sitting on top of their thrones doing nothing. 5. TO THE BOARD OF DINOSAURS: Like Mr. Potter in the movie, "It's a wonderful life." As crooked as you are, your employees will find a way succeed no matter how much you steal from them. 6. If this is how you want to run your business, fine. But you need to understand that if you don't treat people with respect and kindness, then all the respectful and kind people will leave and you will be left with a quagmire of unhappy people, motivated by fear mongering.

Pros

Beautiful Downtown location that the Company cannot afford to be in.

Cons

Poor Leadership NO development Layoffs every other month Poor communication Good people are walking out the door because they just cant take it anymore, often with no notice and without another job HR male at Corporate office is useless and cannot be trusted Poor morale Negative attitudes Leaders are completely disconnected I go DAYS without seeing or hearing from my boss I cannot trust that my pay, benefits or 401K will be handled properly. Does this sound like a place you would like to work? If you ignore this warning it will just be a matter of time until you see and feel the same things. It does not matter if you work out in the locations or at the corporate office. It is all the same. Run, don't look back! I just wish someone would have given me the same warning!

Pros

Teamwork along the people I worked with was excellent!!!!!!

Cons

All the recent Schnitzer positive posts make us lol!!!! Our manager said during a recent call for Schnitzer Management that the Executive of Human Resources, who has a great influence over the broad work environment, said Schnitzer has to many negative comments on the website Glassdoor.com and asked people on the call to delete all of the bad comment on the Glassdoor.com website. This Executive then told employees to post positive comments after deleting anything negative.
