Thank you for your feedback! We truly value employee feedback and we’re grateful that you took time out of your day to provide it. It sounds like there are some things that are making your work a little stressful or unenjoyable, and we absolutely don’t want that! I think a great first step would be to discuss these concerns with your manager - we put a heavy emphasis in our management training on taking employee feedback to heart. While our managers are not able to accommodate all requests, they should certainly be your first point of contact for any issues or concerns (HR should be your second).
Company policy for most employees (managers, leadership, and senior level employees being the exception) is that they work 40 hours per week on average (some variance and flexibility is expected). As a company, we have never had an expectation that employees should work 50+ hours a week, and I’m sorry if you’re feeling that is the expectation! This was a key reason why we implemented a time tracking system - to make sure that employees weren’t being over worked. Our records show that employees on your team have averaged 42 hours/week in Q1 2023, which is a little more than normal - but not unexpected given the recent vacant positions on this team. You should absolutely discuss this with your manager and bring up your feelings about work expectations - we don’t want you to get burnt out!
It is true that many of our staff members have young kids at this current stage and fit the millennial demographic. It’s not intentional, but that is how our company has developed and grown. We do also take time to step away from work with our staff on Friday afternoons. I genuinely hope this is something you feel like you can participate in, as it is a very fun time for those who attend!
Regarding 1v1 vs. team meetings, it is true that we try to foster a meeting climate of open debate and dialog. Challenging opinions, thoughts, and direction is a part of what makes our teams great! We recognize that this type of feedback can be hard at times, but if you’re feeling that your manager or team members are being overly critical or not considerate, it’s important to talk to them about it. This is a great opportunity to exercise our core value of Considerate Candor, which strengthens our teams and helps us all overcome workplace challenges. If you don’t feel comfortable discussing this topic with your manager right now, HR is a great resource to help you navigate these waters.
I’ll close by reiterating that we want all employees at RentVision to really enjoy their work! If you’re not currently in that place, please come talk to us - we will do what we can to help you get back to a better place in your work life.
