Pros

No accountability if you are a bad employee. Screw up as many things as you like, you will never get in trouble and will still receive the same minimal, annual raise as your more motivated, harder-working counterparts. If you can be content with a go-nowhere job, in a go-nowhere company, you can work here for life no matter your performance.

Cons

No accountability if you are a good employee, either. Work as hard as you want, but you will not receive a promotion, a better raise, any bonus, or even a thank you. This company will break your spirit within months.

Pros

Good work-life balance; most supervisors here set the productivity bar high without imposing excess pressure. Relatively easy work to transition into if you are technically minded and don't have previous optics-specific experience.

Cons

The overall culture here is somewhat institutionalized and has difficulty keeping pace with industry developments. Management's answer to every business challenge usually begins with a layoff (a minimum of 2 per year in my 5+ years with the company). Other types of attrition are high as well. Extremely limited opportunities and little attention to advancement or career growth.
