Pros

None, besides the people that work here, non management that is.

Cons

Horrible to their employees. Lying, or holding back pertinent info during the interview process. They mention travel, but they do not tell you that they will ship you off to no mans land across the globe for literally 4-5 months at a time. Maybe if their code wasn't written in the early 1990's, the software would be configurable and actually work as designed instead of having a software team to handle hardware issues in the field. Talk about poor employee handling, after a two weeks notice was given and told there was no need to show up after the week, which is normal in the work place, they refuse to pay for the days covered int he two week notice. Horrible, horrible screwing over of employees. If I had money and time to waste, I would sue them.

REGARDING PROS COMMENT: Retrotech strives to continually provide our employees with a family-friendly and work-life balanced culture. We provide an excellent benefits and compensation program to our employees in a state-of-the-art brand new facility. We value our employees and their hard-work and dedication that enables Retrotech to be so successful. REGARDING CONS COMMENTS: Retrotech prides itself on our comprehensive Recruitment and Selection process. We provide all candidates, through our Company website, the ability to review our detailed job descriptions which outline all of the position requirements and responsibilities. During our interview process, our hiring managers are very detailed and thorough with all candidates when discussing field assignments and travel requirements, if any, for each particular position. We do not withhold pertinent information to any candidate who takes the time to interview with our organization. We answer all candidate questions and concerns during the recruitment process. One of our core values as an organization is our Integrity, and our Management team and employees exhibit integrity on a daily basis. Retrotech has a diverse installed code base which is the foundation of our success. With this diversity comes variations of the product throughout the years which must be maintained in its as installed architecture. Retrotech continues to support its customers regardless of which version they may have installed and in what era it may have been designed. We treat employees who decide to leave us with the utmost professionalism, respect and courtesy. Our policy requires that employees provide us with a two-week written notice. In this particular expressed opinion, the individual chose not to provide any written notice to their manager. The decision was made to enable this individual to exit earlier than two weeks; specifically one week notice was accepted. It was communicated that since no resignation letter was provided to the organization, all work was reassigned to other team members and the employee was able to exit earlier than two weeks. Retrotech has an Open Door policy and all of our employees are encouraged to challenge the leadership of the organization, and to speak for themselves when they have a concern or an issue.

Pros

Pays better than most others in the area.

Cons

Upper management is rarely, if ever seen. They do however expect their employees to work ungodly hours. I was asked to go to London to work on a project for 2 months, coming home for a week in between. Like an Idiot, I said yes. I've been here a month and a half, working 70+ hour weeks at all hours of the day and night (and even 20 hours shifts at points). I've been here over a month, but am unable to go home, and it now seems this will last through the next 3 months at least. I'm not even able to go home for thanksgiving to see my family! They do not care about their employees, or their lives. Their solution to keep me here was to throw money at me, which has worked so far, but now that I'm realizing the true scope of the situation, I'm not sure I will be employed here much longer.

Pros

With a poor labor market this turned into being just a job that paid, and was better than nothing???

Cons

The biggest cons was their ability to look you straight in the face and lie to you right from the beginning of the interview process. The biggest challenges were the extreme gossiping, lying, harassment, bullying, etc. These people cannot tell the truth if hit them in the face. You never know if the entrenched staff are being honest with you or using you to get to someone else. The immediate constant games the entrenched staff plays was awe inspiring. They're very unprofessional in every way possible with rude jokes, pranks, derogatory comments, subtle threats, and no-one is immune there. Just try and keep your head down, it's like they see weakness and attack like piranha. If you look around when you get there, you'll see a few that have been there a long time. These covet their positions and will do just about anything to discredit you or demean you in the eyes of others without a care in the world... as long as their position is secured, and you are no longer a threat to them (no matter how small or deluded they think that threat may be). In their eyes, you're just fodder to use or destroy against others within company. So much darn subtle infighting is rampant. When you walk around you will hear the subtle comments from others in their cubicles, and god help you if you get pulled into their latest manipulations against someone else, or even yourself. They expectations are for you to forego your family and life and live there too. There are a lot of employee that have lost family when they came to work there. You would think that you could work a 40 hours a week normally, but no. They never tell you until you hired in, but then they not so subtly tell they expect 55+ hours a week. Any less than that and you get chastised. Especially by those who work 55+hours a week religiously and have lost their families and friends. The entrenched staff are very hard drinkers too, and go out almost every night and hit the bars together. If you do not go you are chastised and put on the "hit" list. They can recite liquor combinations at the drop of hat, and know of all the best bars in town and where ever they travel. If they sense you do not drink or drink very little, you become an outcast and these drinkers feel threatened/paranoid by you in their deluded minds, even when there is nothing there to be threatened about! They have 1/2 hour weekly meeting with your supervisor, to "pump" you for information on others in the department, that they can use against you or others. The supervisors have learn to be "endearing" to ask a lot of personal questions to gain your trust. But whatever you tell them, gets around in the office real quick. They have no trust in any information you reveal or tell them.
