Pros

The feeling you get when you walk out the door knowing you are never going to ever work there again

Cons

Where to start. The company has no value or respect for any member of their team. The company used to be about upskilling staff to allow them to progress into higher positions whereas now these positions are filled from external candidates who often waltze in on a much higher rate of pay than long standing members of staff. Dental nurses are paid a embarrassing rate of pay considering the effort and time they put in. Practice managers on unjustifiably low rate of pay in relation to responsibility. Every day team are expected to work well into lunch breaks as heaven forbid we don't hit an impossible to reach 'run rate' for targets although the problem is that there is not an adequate amount of dentists to cover the targets as let's face it what dentist with a performer number in there right mind would come work for the company. Justification required for every penny spent in practice. Funnily enough we asked for amalgam because we need it to treat our patients. Practices are bought then left to practically rot as they are too busy investing in more practices. Dental nurses and managers expected to cover at other practice miles away for no extra pay and a ridiculously low milage rate. Good luck asking accounts for your mileage back you will be greeted with this is wrong or that is wrong, any excuse to perhaps delay getting your expenses back. Extra responsibilities and workload constantly piled onto the team with no reward or even a simple thanks. Quick to extend opening hours or open on weekends and expect staff to be able to drop the rest of there life so if you have a life outside of work this is not the ideal company for you. You are expected to constantly train new members of staff for surprise surprise, no additional rate of pay! Do you see a theme here? Higher management are bully's and play games as if they are still in the playground. Nobody with half a brain would trust them as far as they could throw them. The best thing I did was hand my notice in.

Pros

Great staff in practice Pay for your GDC registration Some management & staff in head office care - few and far between though!

Cons

If your face doesn't fit, you'll know about it Pretend there is career progression, when there isn't "New Roles" given to others, without advertising company wide Create random jobs for some, but don't help people who work hard progress in their career Only care about Invisalign - nothing else Extremely undervalue their staff Staff retention is poor Senior management don't care about what is happening in practice - very very poor leadership Any sort of feedback is deemed negative Poor pay

Pros

Able to negotiate high UDA values compared to other corporate companies. Once completed associate UDAs pro rata, locum positions available within the company to continue earning. Opportunity for FD trainer development within the company. CPD encouraged and arranged for you at discount price. Ability to network with other clinicians and nurses. Provides a sound foundation for NHS dentistry which is great for newly qualified dentists looking to gain experience and earn money following university.

Cons

Ethical and clinical standards compromised due to financial gain. No innovative ways of delivering patient care especially in a technology driven modern dentistry. Definition of “Nash Bash”. Lure you into a false sense of job satisfaction with a good UDA value and target but then overwork you until you are physically and mentally burnt out. Will take advantage of younger dentists and deceive you into a low UDA value initially but be prepared to negotiate back. Questionable material and stock selection which leads to compromise in clinical work. Poor turnaround time for issues within practices to be dealt with. Nurses are moved around or sent out of practice which is out of their control. High staff turnaround and inability to hire stable practice managers. Treated as a “hamster in a wheel” to perform as many UDAs as possible with little bonus or reward. Claim to help improve private income potential yet overload you with high UDAs target and therefore expect you to make time to fit in private treatments.

Rodericks Dental Partners Response
5y
Please note this response is from the Chief Clinical Officer here at Rodericks to ensure the most appropriate response given the feedback: 'At Rodericks we support our dentists to exhibit high clinical and ethical standards of dentistry for our patients and we also help them to understand that as professionals this is something that is part of their everyday life. Part of the work that we do with our associates is helping them to understand their own work life balance and this includes the amount of work that they decide they are able to do within their own contract. As dentists are self-employed they are able to decide how much work they do over a year and we feel that we provide additional support to younger dentists with our educational scheme, clinical and mentoring support and varied CPD program so that they do understand that dentistry is an excellent lifelong career choice with many opportunities. If at any time you felt you were unable to manage your contract or targets, we would have been more than happy to support you'.
