Obsolete Practices; Discouraging Work Environment

Pros

Any time you hit a rough spot in a future position, you can think, "at least it's not as bad as Rudd & Wisdom."

Cons

Being an employee at Rudd & Wisdom is a frustrating experience. Suggestions for changes or improvements are either dismissed outright with no explanation, or placed on hold until they're forgotten about. Management is concerned with consistency at whatever cost; some software still in use there in 2013 was created in 1983 for the DOS platform. Much of an employee's time is spent complying with management caprices such as printing files, using certain colors of pen and paper clip, and the passing back and forth of burgeoning stacks of paper. The RW model employee is someone who keeps his head down, keeps his office door closed, and churns out stacks of documents for 60 hours per week.

Pros

There are a lot of great people who work there than make the experience enjoyable despite the large negative attributes of the company. The location is good. The offices are nice, and almost every employee gets one regardless of level.

Cons

There is a very poor organizational structure and lack of proper management. The company is not open to change, despite the desperate need for it. The lack of information sharing and training flattens the initial learning curve and makes a lot of the work for new employees slow and redundant. The inefficiencies are very frustrating even on a day to day basis and the lack of effort to solve them compounds the frustration.

Pros

Great city, flexible hours, decent exam program, good and fun people throughout office, long history with many clients, in Austin

Cons

Outdated practices of compensation, management, technology and more, rigidity to some practices like certain hours or working in office, pay levels under market levels, lack of clarity from management
