      Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Rush Enterprises full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Fast environment Friendly coworkers Decent career paths available

      Cons

Pay is at the end of a corporate-held string to be jerked at any time. Meetings about meetings about spreadsheets about meetings.

      Advice to Management

Get back to field expertise and management. You've turned managers into email tethered babysitters.

        Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Rush Enterprises full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

        None. This region is horrible.

        Cons

Worst collection of management ever assembled. Poor pay.

        Advice to Management

Colorado region management is a joke. Repeated issues of illegal and unethical actions by management. Corporate has done nothing. This region is underperforming and losing employees daily. Turnover is outrageous.

I have been working at Rush Enterprises full-time for more than 8 years

        Pros

Work with some great people and customers who are passionate about the industry. Rush Enterprises pays well but don't let that get you sucked in. The trucking industry is fragmented that creates lots of competition and opportunities in sales and service. That means we strive to be the best all around parts/service/sales/repair option around. But a strong word of caution. That competitive environment causes issues.

        Cons

Because...culture is everything. While I am able to maintain a great culture and environment with those I work everyday with, it is the culture of CHQ that has been driving down issues that affect the quality of passion that people had. What used to be a place to go out and make it your own and drive business now has turned into a heavy handed overbearing environment where everyone is tied to their computers looking at...

        Advice to Management

I really really agreed with a prior review. Senior management at CHQ must get out to the dealerships more. There's no excuse not to really understand the impact your 'leadership' has on the dealership and employees.

I have been working at Rush Enterprises full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Same as other reviews. The pay is solid. The company is solid financially. The company is in a good position in the industry with growth. The employee stock purchase plan at a 15% discount is the only good benefit.

        Cons

Benefits. Health care is horrible. Vacation policy is a joke. 10 years to get a 3rd week vacation.... Let that sink in....and compare that to any other company..... Culture is overbearing pushing to the point of breaking . Add on a micro managing management environment and you have a recipe for employee base of fear, stress, frustration. The executives on the 5th floor are all about themselves. They rarely ever visit...

I worked at Rush Enterprises full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

Rush is a growth company in a niche market well positioned for stability and growth. Pay is solid.

        Cons

Way too lean. For a $5 billion yet only around 7k employees, causes extreme stress and hardships and burnout. Now the worst part. The company executives protect themselves while forcing accountability to lower level managers and employees. There is a culture of management by shaming. Extreme pressure and ridiculous expectations where people will either fail or burnout. Loyalty is expected rather than doing the...

Zero. The engagement survey was a waste of time and money. Management does not take advise. They give it.
