Pros

Really cannot think of a single one.

Cons

- questionable behaviour from certain directors and members of senior management including sexist and racist remarks - this isn’t the place for people who want a professional working environment, but if you like to put on a show and/or have come here through a connection with someone at the top, you’ll do well. If you want a normal working environment go to MLA Global or another competitor. - toxic environment where senior consultants only care about their own billings - complete disregard for anything/ anyone else

Pros

Professionally speaking: One of the most profitable agencies in the U.K. Full stop. You can make excellent money here. You get promoted quickly if you're good. You get praise and recognition for hard work. You get to wine and dine clients, candidates and colleagues. There are people here to learn from who are genuinely at the top of their game. Jeez I've even got a free holiday to Portugal out of them. For anyone that's done an actually tough job in their life this place is a cake walk. Personally speaking: I love this place. The office chat is often pant wettingly funny, albeit with some serious individual exceptions, and the characters here are genuinely one of a kind (thankfully so in relation to some). The social side is excellent, many people here consider colleagues as genuine friends. For animal lovers the office provides specially trained emotional support mice. In all seriousness you've got to actively try to not enjoy working here.

Cons

Unfortunately the mice are actually not provided by the company as pets they are in fact unwanted invaders. In fairness to ssq they've been trying to get this sorted for a while - there's talk of an office cat. You don't get everything served to you on a platter, sad. The toilets are pretty grim - but the hotel over the road has top facilities with lovely hand cream. No one holds your hand, professionally speaking. You have to learn a lot for yourself - suits some, not others. End of month drinks quite sporadic - little bit tight on this, the Apex (hotel over the road, used as both supplementary toilet, and conversely watering hole) is very expensive and ssq could certainly pay for a few more drinks in my humble opinion.

Pros

Great pedigree, one of the very best if not the best legal recruitment firm out there. Extremely professional and highly credible individuals across all levels at the firm

Cons

Many of the Directors are ex lawyers and the type of environment you walk into is more law firm, less recruitment firm. The 'fun', 'celebrate success' type atmosphere of the larger (less mature perhaps) firms is well and truly gone. You go to SSQ not to make friends per say but to work hard and make very good money if you're good. suffice to say if you aren't billing at least 350k + per year, you will get very little recognition and feel pretty average. SSQ much stronger in law firm to law firm moves than in-house. It's dog eat dog there so be prepared for that
