Entry level is bad, Middle management is hell. (Review from working for both the Architecture & Visualization Dept.)
Pros
-First off, this job should only be for people in school or those freshly graduated (for up to about 2 years). It will provide lots of hours and opportunity for overtime. You get 1 bonus a year. You get like 1 company party a year. They have really embraced the remote working method once you are trained up. Works for you if you use it more as a side gig while you get your life together. -I was lucky enough to be in the good graces with the group lead and got promoted pretty early. There are a few good eggs in this company. Gravitate towards those people to get something out of this job. This is the only quality that redeemed this review with an extra star. -With the repetitive work you do here, you will develop a discipline that's important for Construction Document creation, but your scope will be very very small. It's more plug and play work, and you will never really get an explanation of why you are doing what you do. Not a well-rounded job for an aspiring architect to get their AXP hours.
Cons
Your start pay will be significantly lower than any other firm in the area. This firm is a money machine first, just remember that. You will be a cog in a tiring, repetitive formula for getting as much money from the same type of boring work every day. It will be mindless drafting early on, trust me. The architecture dept and visualization dept feels more ancillary to the company as a whole. There isn't a strong, central leadership that will help you grow as an architect here. You are a draftsman only. Don't be fooled by your job title. Middle management staff are worked to death. Often times, forced 55 hour work weeks continue for months before either you get a break in work or upper management finally hires more people. There were times as a team lead that I had to pay out of my own pocket to feed my team pizza or something to keep their spirits up while we stayed up at the office till 7pm everyday. An upside to this is that you gain an immense sense of comradery with your lower level employees, as if you were all grunts in a war waged by your superiors.
