Pros

Big clients, lots of responsibility, fun after work gatherings

Cons

London is nowadays led by Spanish people living in Madrid and the company culture has become chaotic and emotional. This doesn't work well in the UK. The leadership team is full of explosive emotions, backstabbing and politics. All the best talent has left. Many promises but nothing seen through. Digital competence is poor.

Pros

My (thankfully) brief stint at Saffron was extremely challenging. But at team level, the people were lovely, and very aware of the challenges.

Cons

The leadership team, mainly based in Spain, were old fashioned, traditional, and lacked understanding of how working practices have evolved. I was shouted at in meetings, saw staff being berated and laughed at by leadership for asking questions, and witnessed countless racist, homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic comments and emails. Feedback to leadership on these issues was not taken seriously or addressed. The company's limited benefits were marred by rules and restrictions. The one work-from-home day permitted per week was, in reality, frowned upon and could only be taken if you worked at a location within a certain distance of the office, making it difficult for employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance. In the day-to-day work, I was constantly told I was wrong when presenting information. Even when I made grammatical and spelling corrections to clear errors in documents, I was told my changes were not in line with the company's tone of voice. It was like being constantly gaslit. I have genuinely never worked somewhere as challenging as this, and I'm very glad it's over.

We are sorry you felt that way and you didn’t communicate it following the feedback culture we foster to increase transparency and improve as a team. We can clearly feel your frustration in the review, and we are so sorry to read that, while you did not believe or share our values, you preferred to wait for us to have to let you go rather than leaving a place you were not comfortable working in. We wish you the best in your future endeavours.

Pros

The client work and the culture can feel infectious, but don't let them fool you:

Cons

Unable to use work laptop for personal things without being stalked by the it. Top leaders and directors have a superiority complex. Things my look diverse from the outside, but culturally no room for diversity.
