Cons

If you are reading this, you are more then likely considering employment with Scientific Search. First and foremost, Please trust me when I say the positive reviews on glassdoor for this company are fake/forced. They were done in response to the previous negative reviews, so please do not let them fool you. The salary is entry level and the benefits are absolutely horrible. The commission is a percent of a percent of a percent and that will only go up once you make the company exponentially more than your earnings. While it may go up in time, that is completely dependent on the jobs you are given to work (which is beyond your control). New people will typically get the jobs no seasoned recruiter wants to take, so they will be difficult to fill. Also, in your first 6 months, you MUST get 6 placements/fills or you will be let go. This is where the jobs you work being beyond your control really comes into play. Your manager will be leveraging your financial stability with jobs they can't give to anyone else, but you are new so if you don't make it, it's not a loss to them. Finally, the management staff is the most unprofessional, narcissistic, egotistical group of people you will ever and I mean EVER meet. They have treated employees with such disrespect that it truly borders on harassment. If this were a corporate environment with a real Human Resources department the number of lawsuits and terminations would be staggering, to say the least. The actions of upper management that are continuously overlooked can be stopped by one person and that is the owner. Sadly it has been made abundantly clear that if you make him enough money you are above the law. The only thing I can really say is if you are not happy in your current job and looking to make a move trust me, keep looking, this place is not the answer. If you want to roll the dice and do accept a position at Scientific Search you will see for yourself soon enough. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Scientific Search Response

This is a particularly difficult review to respond to; I recognize a lot of pent up resentment and anger. I think we both know where such a disparaging review comes from, but you need to move on. All the reviews on Glassdoor are real, written by current or former employees, and none have been coerced. Our employee turnover averages around 10% per year which is excellent for any company, and unheard of in the Staffing Industry where many companies have 40 – 50% annual turnover. We were recently recognized by the New Jersey Business Journal as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey. Our health and dental insurance plans are Silver Level Aetna Plans and are free to employees. We provide 100% match on 401K contributions. Our compensation plan includes a competitive base salary and a commission component which is performance based. Not everyone is comfortable with this type of plan, preferring the security of a defined paycheck. But for those with drive and skill, this plan offers incredible earnings potential. For potential employees reading this review, please recognize this to be an aberration and not representative of the general sentiment. Visit our offices, meet the management and talk to the staff – I’m absolutely confident you’ll have difficulty reconciling this review with the feedback you get from your visit.

Pros

All things considered I made good friends here that were in the same position as me. Half day fridays during the summer were needed to just get out. I gained a set of skills which allowed me to leave. Food trucks on Fridays were a nice effort to raise moral, but ineffective. If you stick it out and get lucky with jobs you're given, you can make legitimate money. 401k match on commission actually is a huge bonus.

Cons

Some of these reviews are 100% accurate, specifically the ones focusing on slandering, bullying, identity theft, etc. Management could have made this a good job but loves their power trips. Once managment realized the honestly of reviews, people were "asked" to make accounts to get the rating up. NOT A LIE. There were no responses to any reviews until their rating had been eviscerated. Middle management talked about the reviews and laughs about the honesty. Threats of staplers being thrown at people, threats of fist fights, and legitimate intimidation tactics were the norm from middle management all while a blind eye is turned from above. The advertised 830 to 430 day is a joke. Show up at 830 and you get "talked to," and you're on call literal all hours of the day. Who doesnt love getting texts at 630 in the morning for something that can wait until in person? And the best/worst. Unlimited sick days, where if you took a sick day you were scrutinized and checked in on. All while offering a massive TEN paid days off, which were also scrutinized when taken.
