Pros

Self has transformed itself from a small startup to national household name!

Cons

With growth there's been some expected turn over. Would like to see more action items being addressed from HR regarding employee feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. It's amazing to see the growth that Self has experienced and the announcement of our recent partnership with the Spurs. It's a really exciting time! Our voluntary turnover is very low for our industry but we constantly strive to make it lower. HR is working on several initiatives employees requested including management training, more ways for employees to earn equity, and more structured employee career development.

Thank you for the review . And thanks to employees like yourself, we have an amazing culture! One thing that stands out to me is the willingness of employees at all levels to listen to others ideas and take then to heart.

A cutthroat, impersonal environment

Pros

- good benefits and compensation - great CEO - remote friendly company

Cons

- the company claims that it takes employee development seriously and that they want to see their people grow and succeed but that is a complete lie. my managers ultimately did not care about that, and every day feels like you're in a sink or swim workplace. you will be penalized for making mistakes big and small, and in my case, heavily micromanaged and ridiculed for not meeting unrealistic deadlines or expectations. by the end, it was obvious that my manager's antics were to convince me to quit. not once did I feel that any of my superiors cared about employee growth, they were only out for themselves and what would make them look good. I ultimately left because I felt there was no sense of community whatsoever, and management doesn't care about their people. maybe other departments are different, but this was my experience.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience with us. We do very much believe in investing in our employees to help them grow and develop. In fact in 2022, 24% of our staff experienced career movement including promotions and lateral job changes. We wish you the best of luck.
