Stay Away

Pros

A small company with dedicated staff that almost makes up for what the company owner lacks. Still, there is only so much that the employees can do without coming up against opposition from above.

Cons

This would be a great place to work if it was not for the company president who makes this a toxic place to work. The problems might not be apparent when you first start, but they become more pronounced about a year in. The owner has no common sense. Everyone is miserable and spends too much time at work for too little pay.

Pros

Do not even consider working here!! Stay away from here!

Cons

Fired after working here for three weeks. Was told I would get a three month trial period. Boss is impulsive about his choices, lies about his expectations and wants an employee who can do everything under the sun with no training that will also accept $30,000 , commute 3hrs/day AND stay late AND come in on weekends. Needs a big reality check. Catty co-workers. Not worth it for a minute!

Working at Shapiro Auctions

Pros

I'm currently working at Shapiro Auctions and was quite surprised to read the previous review. I have now been here for 8 months and have always felt that I had the support of all of my coworkers and President. They are just as invested in me as I am in the company. One huge bonus is that I have been able to participate in all aspects of an auction house from photography to even cataloguing my own sale.

Cons

Some may think you have more responsibilities and may have to put in more time when working for a smaller company, but I have taken it as an opportunity to have great experiences and opportunity to acquire new skill sets that I would not if working for a larger auction house.
