Experience in a fast-paced agency environment

I have been working at Sharp Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management: the partner/VP level management at Sharp is excellent. The most involved with employees at all levels I have ever experienced (even among other smaller agencies)

Learning environment: across the board Sharp employees are great at sharing information and industry learnings/trends. Since I started at Sharp I've seen my career grow by leaps and bounds, primarily because of the opportunities I've had to learn new skills and tackle new challenges, always knowing my teams were there to back me up with any bumps in the road.

Culture: people at Sharp are really friends. Not every single person, but overall there's a culture of positivity and wanting to have fun together, even when there's a lot going on.

Benefits/salary: Sharp offers competitive pay and great benefits that are well explained by the HR department. Asking for info about how to get the most out of your benefits is encouraged.

    Cons

Hiring for an opening can go slowly, which makes sense when you're looking for a great culture fit, but can put stress on staff to bridge client gaps in the meantime.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! Many people love Sharp dearly, and value our careers here.

Keep making sure employees have opportunities to expand their roles to new areas of PR/Social. That's something that genuinely sets Sharp apart from other agencies and should be maintained.

I have been working at Sharp Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Passionate staff, friendly work environment (rare for a PR agency) great culture, amazing clients, upper management is dedicated to helping junior staff succeed and knows how to have fun. Sharp is a rare find in a sea of PR companies in NYC. Would highly recommend to a friend.

    Cons

Long hours. Most people are in by 8:30a and out by 7p although Sharp does offer Summer Fridays

I worked at Sharp Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sharp is a collaborative and creative company where employees are valued for hard work and dedication to both personal growth and the growth of the business. An open office environment creates a deep sense of camaraderie amongst employees and discourages petty competition. Senior management is accessible and open, and truly invested in the success of individual employees. Sharp works with a diverse range of clients, from fortune 500 companies to prestigious non-profit organizations, meaning that there is always something new and different to work on. Everyone at Sharp truly enjoys one another, which makes it a fun and welcoming place to spend the majority of one's time. Work hard play hard is a fitting motto, and there are many times when the company comes together to celebrate successes and let loose. Full of funny, smart and high-energy young people, located in the heart of mid-town Manhattan, and well-respected in the industry, Sharp is an ideal place to build connections and gain experience.

    Cons

As with most companies and industries in New York, long hours are required and expected. Sharp is a growing company, and there is never a shortage of work to be done and employees sometimes feel there are too few hands on deck. The benefit is that the company's leaders are tuned in to everyone's work load, and employees are thanked and rewarded for their hard work.
