Pros

flexibility, casual setting, good entry level

Cons

The management team is very unethical, they try to hide the truth. They do not accept mistakes and don't allow anyone to speak about it. Everyone is very underpaid. The write their own reviews on sites such as yelp and Google so people think it is a great company.

Pros

- Casual work environment - The upside is there, ShipHawk is tackling an industry with antiquated technology - Workers at company are all nice and many were very skilled - Because it was a small company, there were opportunities for leadership roles - Worked here for 2 years and more times than not I enjoyed going into work

Cons

- 60% of the company was laid off a week ago. All of the manager level employees are still there so now it is a company of managers with no workers. - The product team was junior and lots of development dollars were lost because of it. Junior meaning not one member of the product team had product experience prior to working at ShipHawk. - No culture. There were times where it felt like a culture was developing, but it was always short lived because of the constant turnover, in all departments. Culture is a vague term so I'm defining it as employees being friends with each other, hanging out outside of work, or simply going to lunch together. - Interview process was not structured and interviewers were rude Other things to note: - Seeing as how the whole company just got laid off, I would wait a few months before applying here. Might not be a company for much longer. - Sales seemed to be extremely difficult. If you've got a kid, mortgage, or any other kind of major financial commitment I would steer clear. We had a few very experienced sales people that ended up quitting because sales were too difficult. - I would beware of the five star reviews after October 6, 2016 that say great things about leadership and that turnover is a little high but normal. They are probably written by members of the leadership team still working there as an attempt to cauterize the wound they created from the layoffs.

We appreciate your feedback and are glad that you enjoyed coming into work. Team changes are not easy, but as a startup we continue to work towards a structure that creates the most value for our customers, our investors and our team members. This is a fundamental aspect of scaling a fast growing company. We would like to address your comments about positive reviews being written by members of our Leadership Team. We absolutely do not solicit nor do we encourage false reviews from anyone, including our team leadership. Any positive reviews written here are solely the opinions of our team members or former team members who felt strongly enough to put their opinions on this site. Thank you for the 2 years of hard work you put in with us and we wish you nothing but the best going forward!

Pros

-Personal Growth Opportunity -Massive company growth (rocket ship growth baby!) -Engaged leadership that cares about you (they actually listen to your feedback no matter your position!) -Fun Team -Unlimited Paid Time Off -Live in Santa Barbara I have worked at many companies and startups, some of which were wonderful companies to work for. ShipHawk tops all of them. My past two years at ShipHawk have been the greatest growth phase of my life and I have enjoyed the entire ride. Everybody at ShipHawk makes a big impact on the product and the company, even more so if they are proactive. As a software developer, I have made leaps in my proficiency since I have joined. With so many interesting problems/projects, code reviews, and pair programming, not only is it fun to code at ShipHawk, you also learn a lot in the process. Also living in Santa Barbara is amazing. The weather is beautiful every day. I live 1 mile from the beach and I have a 5 minute commute to work. It's been good for my mental and physical health. Finally, I genuinely love the people I work with. I am grateful every day to get to work alongside such motivated, driven, friendly, and smart individuals. This is not just in Engineering, but in Marketing, Sales, Finance... everybody is such a joy to work with.

Cons

-The management team is on the younger side, so everybody is still learning how to be the best they can be. That said they are motivated, ethical, and fully supportive of the employees. -No free gym membership yet
