Pros

better than unemployment, but not by much

Cons

Salary and commission Much lower than I was told in interviews. Managers lie to reps about how much top people are earning. Company gives no support. They demand you work weekends without compensating you for it. EXTREMELY high turnover rate. Deceptive business practices where managers encourage reps to throw other reps "under the bus" to get a sale. Managers also encourage lying to potential customers to get a sale. Product has a high rate of failure. A new pay plan was introduced 3 months ago and no one is making any money from it though management keeps trying to tell us we are. Our bank accounts are draining while they keep trying to convince us we making money that doesn't show up in our deposits. They outsource everything to India. A customer service department exists, but the actual activity does not. They will continue to charge a customers credit card even when the contract is over. Worst company to work for in the United States

Hello, We are so sorry to hear that your experience with us was so negative. The last thing we want to do is throw any of our team members under the bus. In regards to our compensation plan, we state it plain and clear on our company’s career page: The best earn the best! We have high standards for our sales representatives, but if you follow the guidelines we teach in training, and sell according to the model that we have found works, you can excel here. Our new compensation plan is designed to help our sales reps earn more, AND to help our customers get the highest redemption for their advertising dollars spent with us. We think it’s a win-win situation when everyone plays by the rules. We have quite a few seasoned sales representatives who would agree. One thing that really sticks out in your comment is “being forced to work on weekends.” That simply is not true. We value a healthy work/life balance, and we respect our employees’ time off. It’s true that some of our operation teams are in India, but we’re not outsourcing: they are company employees. Our parent company, Eli Global, operates offices all across the world, and ShopperLocal happens to have teams in Eli’s India office. Our customer service and billing teams are dedicated individuals who work US business hours to ensure that they are available when our customers need them. Furthermore, we have a few dedicated customer service individuals right here in the states as well.

Pros

The incentive are what make working for ShopperLocal worth it. What starts as a job to pay your bills soon turn into a job that allows you to take your family to the finest restaurants without a second thought. The only condition is that you focus on your work and handle the pressure well which to be fair, ain't that much.

Cons

It's just a few people. For some reason there is a lot of negativity regarding the pressure which I personally fail to acknowledge. Sales was, is and always have pressure as an integral part. It comes with the job description. These people should leave the company and go find a new job in which I am sure they will fail as well. The company is good but I guess one always finds negative people in any organization.

Pros

Training was accurate and very helpful. The manager for my area is very helpful and cares about my success. If I need help on a close they are just 1 call away. They offer a base salary which their competition does not. Great commission and it's paid weekly.

Cons

A lot of phone calls every day. You have to drive your own car but you are given a allowance for this. You have to generate your own leads.

Pros

Work at home. . . sort of. IN between being required to show up for useless banal sales meetings that waste a day or calling into morning sales calls that are even more useless and a waste of time. Base salary was nice as long as I could stand trying to sell this dated and tired product of coupons on the back of Supermarket receipts.

Cons

Lousy product, dated print material, management is clueless and incompetent on most levels. Company owner dresses in black and thinks he is some sort of visionary but his products are sub par in most markets. Granted, some territories are okay but overall most areas are "scorched earth" no former customers want to renew and current customers are hard to find because of poor product results and a bad reputation as a company.

I'm quite sorry that you did not like the product. Unfortunately, with 60 years of success and a strong amount of ROI reported from current clients such as Curves, Burger King, and Jiffy Lube, we are unlikely to eliminate it. We do, however, have a development department that has been rolling out updated products we train our successful reps on. The owner appreciates your feedback on management.
