Pros

- Remote working (if you live far away from Newcastle otherwise you are forced to go to the office 3 days a week) - Stable company - Friendly and fun colleagues - They have actually managed to hire some excellent developers in the last few years due to market conditions although I suspect they will leave once the market improves and they can find something better - Variety of interesting projects to work on

Cons

- Your experience will depend entirely on the projects you are assigned to, some clients can be pushy and demanding whereas others are a joy to work with - Salary is low compared to how much the clients are billed - No meaningful benefits - No engineering or code quality standards. The focus is purely on assigning people to projects, delivering and billing the clients - Unethical leadership decisions (I witnessed lying to clients and silent layoffs)

Bully or be bullied.

Pros

Pretty view from the office. Just dodge the druggies and homeless people.

Cons

Welcome pack was great but that was the end of my onboarding. That was it! My peers lived with their headphones in from day one and I was as welcomed as a fart in a space suit. When I seeked help I was ignored or spoken down to. The help and advice I was rarely given, was to "be more of a bully" I am not a bully. Prepare to be bullied. Bullying aside, there are zero processes and even if there were the arrogant team would simply disrespect to suit their agenda i.e "I don't do ceremonies, I just get what I want when I want it" ouch!

Pros

• The tech team is full of brilliant people who consistently deliver under pressure. Talented, friendly, and helpful, with very little office drama. • The office is modern and well-equipped. • Exposure to a variety of technologies and projects across multiple client companies. The team is doing genuinely interesting work.

Cons

• Extremely inflexible approach to hybrid working. The company is rigidly committed to a mandatory three-days-in-office policy and will actively resist any attempt to negotiate flexible arrangements - even in cases where remote work is clearly reasonable or justified. The emphasis is placed on physical presence rather than productivity, which undermines morale. • No training or development opportunities. Despite repeated requests and discussion, there has been no meaningful progress toward offering structured training, career coaching, or learning resources. Staff are expected to upskill in their own time, with no support or investment from the company. • Career progression is non-existent. There are no defined advancement paths, no mentoring, and no long-term planning. Even high performers are left with nowhere to go, creating a dead-end environment. • Pay reviews are a formality with no substance. Although leadership claims they are conducted regularly, most are dismissed without clear criteria, feedback, or negotiation. Compensation does not reflect performance at all. • Chronic under-resourcing. The team continues to shrink as staff leave and are not replaced. This leads to increasing workloads for those who remain, creating burnout and frustration. • Tech team held hostage by external pressures. Project managers and clients often impose unrealistic deadlines, shifting requirements, and conflicting priorities. There’s little protection from poor planning or scope creep, making it difficult to do high-quality work. • Lack of recognition and appreciation. Employees who go above and beyond are rarely acknowledged. This contributes to a sense of being undervalued. • Poor communication and top-down decision-making. Leadership decisions are often made behind closed doors and handed down without context or discussion. Staff are left feeling out of the loop and disengaged. • No long-term strategic vision. Work often feels reactive rather than purposeful. There’s no clear direction for where the company or tech team is headed.
