Pros

There were too few to list. There were a handful of good people who I worked with when I was with the company that made it a little more tolerable when showing up for work. I guess if you're right out of college this would help you realize what you don't want to be doing in your career, but that's about all the positive I can think of offhand.

Cons

There are too many to list. The product quality was compromised when Don Taylor bought the company so it is hard to sell something that you don't believe in. I had numerous customers tell me that their "OR" quality instruments used to be great quality years ago and now it was the worst they had ever used. Surgeons were throwing certain instruments right in the trash either before or after using them. Sklar's disposable instrument line was also not well-received in the marketplace and was way over-priced. This is not what you want to be dealing with as a sales person, not to mention, you have zero control about pricing, even if you go to management with competitive feedback you will be told that you have to use the pricing they dictate to you. I personally could not afford their medical benefits so I had to go without insurance for a little while until I was able to get onto my spouse's plan. Sklar offers the WORST benefits package I've ever seen in my life, but management will tell you how great it is I'm sure. Their PTO policy was really bad too and I doubt that it has improved since I left. You will be told you can leave early around the holidays, but you will have to clock out and not get paid for that last hour or two that they were nice enough to let you go spend with your family. Contrary to some of the other reviews on here, Sklar is absolutely NOT a good place to start out in the medical sales field. Their reputation is so bad in the industry that it will only hurt you when looking for another job in the medical field. Please keep this in mind when reading these reviews on here. Management was degrading, dishonest and all around a group of people who you will not want to work for. This is absolutely the WORST company I had ever worked for and I have no idea how I stayed as long as I did. I have never been promised so many things that absolutely never happened and the worst part is this will compromise where you want to be in your life, your financial situation and your mental well-being. You will eventually dread going to work every day due to the other people who have been beaten down by the dishonesty and hostile work environment that has been created here over the years. Again, I very much doubt this has changed since 2015. Do yourself a favor, and if you're reading this and you're seriously considering accepting a position with Sklar, don't walk... run! Run for the hills! It's not worth it, trust me, I've been there.

Pros

- full account ownership - management doesn't seem to mind when you come to work so your schedule is very flexible - the coworkers a good bunch of people - great place if you aspire to be a telemarketer

Cons

- very flat organization structure - the exact opposite of entrepreneurial, the employee's have zero say, all decisions come from the CEO who has never been to the office. - terrible pay - if you make a good commission check they'll find a way to not pay you - the office is old, the desks are held up by 2x4's and the systems used were created in the 80's - management has the mentality that sales does not create sales, management does.

Pros

This will be the worst company you ever work for, every other position you hold or have held (regardless of how bad it was), is still going to be better than this place. The hours are pretty flexible (but that is because the fewer hours you work, the less they have to pay you).

Cons

During your interview you will be lied to while they look you in the eye. Even if you as an honest straight forward question about the salary, comp plan or benefits. You will not get an honest answer. This company knows if they are honest with the people they interview, they would never be able to hire anyone, because no one would take the job. People come and go often. This is probably the most deceitful, dishonest company I have ever seen.
