Pros

Unlimited PTO Summer Fridays 5% 401k from day one

Cons

I don’t even know where to start with this company, is completely chaotic, unorganized, and dysfunctional at best. Product and tech both are outdated. The CEO reads these reviews in companywide bi-weekly meetings and complains about how these negative reviews (Honest reviews if you ask me) are ruining the company’s image. I remember when he read one of the reviews in the companywide meeting he said, “I wish this person had spoken to us before leaving”. It’s been almost a year and yet nothing was done to make it better at Softheon for Employees. There is zero communication between teams and Leadership, oh btw almost everyone in senior management roles is underqualified and most probably it’s their first job. People are in senior management roles just because they have been with the company for a couple of years not because of their qualifications. Also, individual teams are no better, 99% of the time no one will show up to the meeting and no one will reply to your messages on teams. Raises were promised in the first week of April, but nothing really happened until the end of June or the beginning of July. The CEO didn’t address it either in bi-weekly meetings and he kept saying “oh talk to your managers they know about it”. But in reality, managers didn’t have any idea either. Let’s talk about Work Culture or should I say the toxic work culture. The Office timings are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and they say it’s because of the 1-hour lunch employees take, but in my entire time at Softheon I never took, nor I have seen anyone taking their lunch break and you will end up eating quickly at your desk or most of the time you will miss it because you are in back-to-back meetings. (Yes, even though you work from home, and you still miss lunch, how ironic). There is so much pressure to get the work done that you will be forced to log in early and logout well past 6 pm (I was working daily till 7:30-8:00 pm and I was logging in around 8-8:15 am and on certain days I had to log back after dinner and work till later). If you don’t do that, they will make you feel guilty about it (believe it or not they expect to you work 24/7). There is no respect for someone’s life outside of work. My manager was a workaholic and slowly and slowly he started expecting me to do the same, (scheduling meetings after 6 pm, expecting you to attend meetings well past after 6 PM, and working on weekends). I understand some people like to work late, but don’t force it on other people who have families and a life outside work, and certainly don’t make them feel guilty about their life choices because they decided to log in and log out on time. On top of this, there are mandatory weekend calls. Your daily priorities will be changed by CEOs who have zero technical expertise but constantly escalate the same issues over and over even and determine what your highest priority item should be and no matter how irrelevant the requested change is, they want it done right away. Everything is a P1 and priorities change depending upon which client is asking. If it’s a big client you will be expected to drop everything you are doing and shift your focus on tasks being requested which again isn't decided by the people who work and understand what the issue/enhancement is, in the first place. Everyone wears too many hats and is constantly overworked which leads to a lot of frustration on who owns what process. You will be assigned someone else’s year-old issues/processes and they will expect you to fix them within a sprint there is no SOPs or any explanation, and if you ask the person whom it was assigned to before they will simply say “I don’t know”. You will need to figure out everything on your own and the worst part is if you cannot fix it or if you ask for help, you will be bashed by senior management in internal and external meetings, and if you end up fixing it your manager will take the credit for it. At Softheon, everyone knows everything and yet no one is willing to do the work. If you are kindhearted, people will walk all over you, and you will end up doing other people’s work. Most Importantly people are extremely sensitive at Softheon so don’t you dare provide feedback or stand up for yourself - someone will take it as a personal offense and yell at you. I have been in this situation where no one will listen to your side of the story, and you will get yelled at. At Softheon “everyone is an SME” so don’t you dare provide feedback or healthy criticism. There is no safe space for you so no matter who tells you what, don’t share any of your personal thoughts/feelings about work or people because it will be used against you in your one-on-one annual review. Your manager will tell you to be mindful about what you say as some people might think it rude but when you ask for an example, he/she won’t be able to provide one and when you complain about the same thing to your manager you will be asked to ignore it. Managers/leadership plays favorites so everyone is always trying to be on their good side. Softheon is not a healthy or positive work environment in fact it's highly toxic and you will end up with PTSD. This company is not worth losing your Mental Peace and well-being.

Pros

When I joined the Softheon team, I thought that the company was great. I wasn't working 70-hour weeks anymore, the stress level was pretty low, and I was being paid more than at my last job. In addition, the policy that was provided in my offer letter said "remote work". These are all the initial pros. My team was absolutely amazing. DataOps and Marketing are both top players at the company. I trusted my team and they are extremely intelligent, kind, and qualified employees. Pretty good benefits: 2 weeks PTO upon hire, unlimited PTO after 3 years, pretty good health benefits, 401K match is great

Cons

Unfortunately, after about six months of working at Softheon, I learned things weren't as they seemed. First, I was running a data science project but my title remained 'data analyst'. I didn't have the tools I needed to do my job effectively, which is unfortunate. We were also all promised merit raises in May, but that never happened. The remote work policy was also not true. I soon learned that I could only work from my residence. Now, this was fine at first, and when I was working on a project with a lot of press, I was given access to a laptop for the holidays when I was away. However, when my family was stuck in Puerto Rico due to airlines being shut down, I was not given the courtesy of working from my grandmother's house. The reasons stated are sensitive data - but if that's the case, why are other healthcare companies equipped to handle sensitive data on mobile devices? Next, despite Softheon's enthusiasm about Machine Learning, it was clear that not much has actually been explored at the company based on presentations that I listened to, skewed data, and incomplete resources. I finally gave my notice when I was offered another job for higher pay and more flexibility. I provided 3 weeks' notice because I didn't want to put my team in a tight spot. Unfortunately, after learning about the company's downsizing-- no, sorry, "rightsizing" -- initiative that left many employees in a terrible spot with little to no warning, I made the decision to sever my ties with the company sooner rather than later. I wanted to leave this company on good terms, but I cannot in good conscience tell others that this is a positive work environment.
