      Management incompetent

      Pros

      Rank and file employees are great. Benefits great.

      Cons

      New CEO brings culture of fear. Micromanages all departments. Promotes his son (who is an auto mechanic) to an executive level. Head of every department is a CPA, just like the CEO. No diversity.

      Pros

      Southside is a strong bank, especially in the Tyler market.

      Cons

      It is a culture of fear and poor communication. The entire time I was there I feared for my job and heard the same from piers and direct supervision. I sat in a leadership meeting stating the characteristics of poor management styles and Southside fit in nearly every category.

      Management has their cliche and plays favorites

      Pros

      As long as you kiss the right bum, there's plenty of growth opportunities. Vacation benefits are pretty swell, if you can get enough branch coverage to take advantage of it.

      Cons

      There is a definite "in crowd" and if you're the right level of brown-noser and professional robot, you're cool with that crowd. But if you're not one of them or one of their pets then you can just enjoy your position for the rest of your life (this isn't my experience, I was able to grow because I worked at an outlying branch so they didn't really know me, this is from seeing my peers go through discrimination on a daily basis.) And if they really didn't like you, they'll find a reason to terminate your employment.
