Will cut your pay

Pros

Very dependent on the management at the store. Head Office is the main problem. But if you have a good store management they can shield you from them

Cons

Head Office - There is a disconnect here somewhere, for some reason Head Office seems to make it more difficult for every department underneath them to prosper and grow in the right direction They will try and cut your pay every year and put a cap on how much you can earn as a commission based employee, if you are a sales manager they pay less than the rest of the country, and will not adjust targets based on supply or market trends. If you do well and succeed, instead of being rewarded or given a bonus they will punish you and hike your targets up so you can succeed again. Some employees have seen targets increase by 80% in the span of 1 year. Head Office does not care, you are a cost to be reduced so they can have a larger piece of the pie

Pros

The largest auto group on the East Coast, so a lot of inventory to sell and ideally, a lot of peers you can learn from.

Cons

Head Office has a complete and total disconnect from the stores. It seems their only purpose is to cut wages, cut support roles, increase workloads, and generally try to run the company as cheaply as possible, regardless of the cost.

Poorly Managed, Corporate is Toxic

Pros

RRSP match is nice. The stores culture highly depends on your General Manager, but that doesn’t get you far away enough from corporate shenanigans.

Cons

Corporate always finding ways to pay less and less every year, and has a bad reputation across Canada for how they treat and pay staff. Performing well for department heads and commissioned employees leads to target increases and pay cuts every year. This company’s primary focus is to monopolize by buying new stores and running them all as cheaply as possible, which inevitably causes culture issues inside the stores.
