Pros

The families and the children you are assigned to are wonderful. By understanding their home environment you get a better appreciation for the work you do for the family. I have been a therapist in the field for quite some time and the population you work with in San Francisco is very different than other areas. They are able to work around your class schedule. The main lady working in the office is so awesome. Her personality is positive, welcoming, and approachable.

Cons

********There are 4 consecutive positive reviews on this page that are CLEARLY written by the supervisors!******** I just put my 2 week notice in after stretching it for so long only because I loved my clients. 1. They don't train you enough and then they just throw you into the field expecting you to know how to do everything. 2. Program supervisors will tell the family they will be at certain sessions, but do not show up. Parents are constantly putting pressure on the behavioral therapists asking when and why the program supervisors aren't coming. Other times they will show up randomly at your sessions with out ANY notice (parents end up not happy about this because they were unable to make their place presentable). There was only one program supervisor that was always out and about at my sessions. All the others came to my session once and I never saw them again (except for company meetings/parties). 3. The company is mainly run by two women. They recently just hired a third BCBA for the young ones. I've learned so much from the main person who runs the company when she is out in the field. She does so much that she's always busy and has so many other clients that its hard for her to make her rounds to everybody. ***HIRE MORE PEOPLE LIKE HER TO HELP TRAIN IN THE FIELD*** 4. Let me personally tell you that one of the two women running the entire company is actually hurting the company. She is VERY unprofessional with therapists and does not reply to things when things are her fault and expects the therapists to still be flexible for her. A lot of my clients under her have complained a lot about her to me and its hard to hear from my clients when all I could do is sit there to listen to it. I can't back up my manager because I actually feel for my clients so I just sit there while my client vents to me about my boss. 3. Hourly pay is super low compared to a lot of other companies. They also do not pay you for metered parking. 4. They don't give you enough time to get from client to client considering San Francisco parking and traffic. 5. A lot of my clients' binders were not updated. They either had the same goals for a very long time or did not have enough data sheets.

Pros

The kids and families are fun to work with. It's exciting when they make progress. Binders and data collection are organized and straight forward. One of the supervisors was a pleasure to work with - very knowledgable and a good teacher.

Cons

There are only 2 licensed supervisors for tons and tons of clients. It's physically impossible for cases to be supervised appropriately. Clients go months at a time without supervision. There were some cases where I just never saw a supervisor. The attitude towards client's and their families is very disrespectful. Team meetings are full of rude comments from the supervisor. The only conversation that happens at company happy hours is making fun of clients and their families. Pass. Emails from the executive supervisor to the staff are snarky and unsupportive. I was once told doctors appointments need one month notice to be approved. I don't usually plan to be sick ahead of time. One of the most disturbing things here is that when I went into the office there was often stacks of new binders for new clients when current cases were understaffed and under-supervised. The company seems to hire any tech who applies. New hires are thrown in with little support and often quit. Turn over is so high that cases go for long periods of time without making any progress at all - which the techs are blamed for. Emails and texts come in at all hours of the day to reroute your schedule. Techs get thrown into subs with cases they haven't seen in forever, which is a waste of time considering hardly any data can be taken. The company takes on way too many clients and seems more concerned with filling sessions with warm bodies than making actual progress on cases.

High Turn-Over, No Supervision

Pros

The opportunity to work with young children with disabilities and also work closely with families and San Francisco School district. Office admin is amazing and helpful to staff!

Cons

Hourly rates are much lower than competitors (typically starting at $17/hr) making it nearly impossible to pay rent in SF especially because full time employment can not exceed 30 hours. Raises are annual and will never exceed $1. The company does not reimburse for outside expenses and these are a common occurrence: - parking meters and parking lots - parking tickets - items purchased for session - office materials YOU WILL WORK FOR FREE! emails, reports, materials, and training will not be compensated. High turn over rate - new staff and supervisors on cases constantly with little to no explanation of who supervisors were. Caseloads for supervisors are large and seemingly unmanageable. Only 2 BCBA's on staff for approximately 90-100+ children served. Executive Director is completely absent. If you are seeking supervision to meet BACB requirements this is not the place for you. You will sign a contract enforcing payment and other stipulations and this will need to be approved by Clinical Director. Very little training for direct therapists, once hired you are thrown into the field to play with kids alone for weeks on end. Frequent schedule changes, all sessions cancelled go unpaid. 6am or 10pm text messages become a regular occurrence in order to communicate cancellations and schedule changes.
