Not an ideal work place

Pros

The appearance of this Salon is its prize possession. Clients are allowed to request you. Promotions are put out to encourage clients to return.

Cons

This salon runs out of supplies frequently. Such as wax, large sticks, 4x4, garbage bags, and products necessary to apply to the skin of clients post and pre-wax. This salon chain often makes paycheck mistakes. These mistakes include late paychecks, paychecks being dropped off at a location that an employee doesn't work at, mis-pay: incorrect amount of payment. You have to fight to get paid for your allotted sick pay. If you have a dispute with your pay, you run the risk of being taken off the schedule. When it comes to asking for a review or a raise you may never get it. Issues are often dragged out and the owners hold no accountability. If a bad review is given on Yelp they don't take into account

Pros

Free waxing, mostly great coworkers. Easy job to have while in school because of downtime and flexible schedule. Great manager.

Cons

The owners do not know how to manage employees. They attempt to have fear based management style. The male owner is completely condescending whenever you have to go to him. Or they just don't get back to you when you contact them. They have taken away most of the everyday duties from the manager. So we have to go to them for everyday requests. The owners promise so much and never deliver. They never listen to their employees. I have gotten chewed out on multiple occasions for something that I had nothing to do with. Also, when I do work hard and take an extra step to make the business cleaner and better, it is never recognized or appreciated.

Pros

Decent wax, good skincare products (PFB, Serious Serum, Dermaquest, etc), and each location offers multiple services (waxing, spray tanning, facials, brow & lash tinting).

Cons

Hands down the most disorganized place I have ever worked for. Owned by a husband and wife who now have 10 locations scattered throughout the Bay Area and one in LA. They short your paychecks as they do all their own accounting (we all have to keep track of our hours, services done, and credit card tips). We constantly run out of supplies and products to sell. Lots of Gilt, Yelp, Living Social, and Groupon deals. Estheticians make only $11 an hour while they're "building" their clientele and 30% commission on service cost once they are busier. They have a very high turnover rate as well.
