-Poor culture driven by fear of job security.
-Leadership is completely uninvolved with anything aside from fund raising and trying to sell by ANY means possible, often encouraging shortcuts that will put students at a disadvantage.
-Leadership has no idea how the product works, they are as far from the weeds as possible, and could not answer rudimentary questions about their own product. This leads to them getting rid of essential members of the team while keeping dead weight.
-The company is run by family and friends even though the hypocritical goals state otherwise (These are the people who remain after layoffs while 90% of the highest performing and mission driven team members have been fired or quit largely due to this unprofessional dynamic).
-Overall, a lack of empathy for employees and students driven by greed, paired with poor decision making by a few people at the top of the company lead to the crumbling of what once was an amazing team and product. Yes, it was a tough market and runways need to be extended. But, the decision making from the top has been greedy and apathetic towards employees, students, and the long term health of the company. The company size being down well over 60% says everything you need to know.
