Pros
Many of the people in the CSO were very friendly & welcoming & great to work with
Cons
-Benefits -Pay -Management -Lack of organization -Lack of autonomy -CSO leadership -Technology I could go on & on because it was much worse than I ever expected. The CSO has only been operating since January but there was more dysfunction than I've ever seen in any one workplace in my entire working life. That wasn't the problem though; the problem is how little you can trust the management & how one person is the root cause of many of the problems without anyone realizing it. I really believe the CSO can be great but there is no way to get there when the turnover is so high & employees can't trust their management. They have a very callous attitude about terminating large numbers of people with no warning or reason. The problem of job security is so bad that there are euphemisms used to refer to the turnover & mass terminations. "Went to lunch" at the CSO doesn't mean what it means in other workplaces; people at the CSO go to lunch & never come back! The faces change so often that it's pointless to learn names. If a person you saw in the morning isn't seen later in the day, everyone worries that the person "went to lunch". Then there's "Black Friday" which is the day large numbers of people showed up to work on a Friday at multiple stores across the country only to find out they no longer worked there! A company that treats people that way is NOT to be trusted. When "Black Friday" occurred, I'd only been with the CSO a few weeks & there was one person in the CSO that also was unexpectedly terminated that I worked closely with. He had no indication whatsoever that his job was in jeopardy & he was completely blindsided. In fact, I believe his direct supervisor not only did nothing to help him but was the direct cause of his termination and never gave him any opportunity to change the outcome because he never knew there was a problem! That's how "valued" employees are treated. I knew then I needed to dust off my résumé again & get out. To have your boss lie to you to your face then lie on you to get you out is indefensible & abhorrent & I'm sure many of those affected by "Black Friday" experienced the same thing with their bosses too. Many victims of "Black Friday" likely had bosses who not only didn't have their backs but were actively stabbing them in it when they weren't looking. That knowledge made it very difficult for me to trust my boss or feel like any of the rest of us would fare any better down the line. I'm glad to be gone but I am disappointed that something that could be great is being hamstrung by incompetent, insecure leadership & a lack of talented people who are driven out or kicked out because they ARE talented.
