I worked at Sunrun full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Ability to work remote SOME of the time. - Some autonomy and kudos from leadership - Some training and LIGHT mentoring/career promotion from management

    Cons

    - Run, as fast as you can, away from this company! You have a MILLION better options! - Little to zero upward growth and development; zero L&D to my knowledge - Employees just don't have a voice. Don't you dare bring even slight, minimal concerns to management. You will be eliminated. "Walking on pins and needles" environment - Entry-level employees never end up in a good spot/long-term employment with the company - Leadership is clearly lacking and simply lackadaisical. They have allowed the culture to descend into a "dog eat dog" mentality where every person is looking to rat one another out and find mistakes or flaws or missing pieces as to why there are gaps in their process. I feel it has turned into a mean, demeaning culture - There is almost no accountability for the managers. I have felt that people lie to cover up their mistakes - There is no protocol. No one knows exactly whose responsibility belongs to what person and who each task is assigned to - This is not a 40-hour per week role. Double-triple that.

I worked at Sunrun full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Base salary, car allowance, gas card, decent insurance

    Cons

Worst customer service I've ever seen! They push how great they are and being the best in the industry because they're the biggest! Reality is, they don't care about the customer, every one is just a number, they refuse to use the correct racking for specific roof types, causing damage or failed installations. Trying to get ahold of anyone to help a client is basically impossible. Project Manager in one state, designers in a different state, engineering somewhere else and when you ask a question it gets passed all over the country until it goes away. They won't even take care of issues on their own employees systems that were suckered into buying their garbage. Solar is am amazing industry that is being ruined by greedy companies like sunrun.

I have been working at Sunrun full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You have the potential to make a lot of money on commissions. I've met several people who have made over $1m in a year. More realistically, $100-300k a year if you put in time without even really honing your craft. The product is a really great product. The consumer really saves money with the Purchase Power Agreement with the only drawback being that they have solar panels on their roof now. You can sell the product knowing you're helping the customer.

    Cons

They lie often. The staff tries to jump around your questions when you confront them on lies and split hairs about moral and ethical decisions and actions. If they purposely mislead employees and customers then they are flat out lying. The $4,000 bonus when entering the company, the $350 ipad purchase reimbursement (they require you to own an iPad and they claim other operating systems do not work with their sales system), and the $150 phone reimbursement are all lies. You CAN receive $4,000 over your first 8 weeks of you meet certain milestones, but it is not a bonus and that money "includes" the reimbursement. The sales managers teach sales representatives to mislead customers. At least one manager takes candid photos of customers without their knowledge to use for "training" purposes in classes with representatives and laughs at these customers openly. Almost all the sales tactics they teach are unethical. They openly encourage you to use half-truths in sales pitches and to manipulate customers.

"Success brings boundless opportunity, mediocrity brings corporate misery."

I have been working at Sunrun full-time

    Pros

Career/income growth actively encouraged Enticing benefits Genuine effort invested at being human-centered

    Cons

Management is luck-of-the-draw, what you get may be phenomenal or unbearable. Lead/sales tracking is comically convoluted until you keep your own records and are constantly vigilant at tracking the leads you generate. This makes verifying you are being paid correctly, which is based on others tracking things accurately, a significant burden. inconsistent training and instructions, oftening burdening those who seek clarification to document the instructions given from various trainings/meetings. Absolute lack of power or authority. -regularly being treated as a child is only tolerable knowing you have peers consistently earning over 10k/mo in commission who achieve this with an equal lack of power.

I have been working at Sunrun full-time

    Pros

Uncapped commission, company provides you leads and you present and close. Commission structure is built for volume. If you are a top performer you will make more than 200k a year, the highest earners get close to 500k but there are not many of us.

    Cons

Your work never leaves you alone ( you will be dealing with clients 24/7), micromanaging, constant pointless company meetings (15+ a week). You will need to be on top of your business and all your projects to make sure they don't get screwed up (meaning you will be managing 40-60 projects each month as they go through the process of being installed). You will work 60+ hours a week if you want to make serious money.

I worked at Sunrun full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Companies overall vision is great, also a great place to learn I you are new to solar. They pay a salary, car allowance, phone, tablet, laptop and a gas card.

    Cons

Only use one type of racking for all roof types which ends up with a bad installation for the customer or cancelation which requires sales reps to pay back. Management is terrible, no communication, required to push a lease because it's better for the company but terrible for the customer. Company got too big too fast and stopped caring about individuals only sales numbers. They reward reps for more sales not actually completed installs. The throw as much crap on a wall and hope it sticks attitude is going to be the death of the company. Too many more negatives to list.

I have been working at Sunrun full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Sunrun is a bottom-up organization in terms of feedback and operation. Unlike other solar companies who pass down orders from HQ on constantly shifting directives. We manage to keep a strong and cohesive organization for salespeople despite the ever-changing solar industry.

    Cons

We work hard and we work a lot.
