Pros

Interesting work at times - the hotels were in some historic old buildings

Cons

Senior management had a very charming habit of openly discussing who was getting fired with everyone and anyone, regardless of their position in the company. This was several months before the person in question was actually fired or even knew there was an issue with their work. In my very short time there I experienced this regarding three people even though I had a very junior (badly paid, I might add) role in the company. I was shocked as it was none of my business and I felt terrible about being party to it especially when the senior managers were nice as pie to their faces.

Pros

Are there any? I get to wear a cool outfit to work I get to be unprofessional just like this company

Cons

I currently work for one of their hotel/hostels and am so dissatisfied that I'm writing on glassdoor to warn people to steer clear of anything owned by sydell. Where to begin? Let's see, abuse is part of the job. People abuse and yell at front desk agents when our hands are tied. The problem: management is cheap. Sydell doesn't care about providing their guests with a wonderful experience, they want to cut corners and increase revenue. who gets the blame? the people at the bottom. Pay is beyond terrible. Hours are consistently cut and their hotels are understaffed (they have to save money!)
