Pros

Great chance to learn the crypto world, people from the other departments are nice, many young people.

Cons

In my opinion, in the Compliance team, there are people behaving in a very toxic way and try to bully you. I see so many people leaving the team, because of the never ending working expectations and a bad atmosphere. I feel sorry for people coming to work there, hoping for a great place to work, whereas in real, the team is totally understaffed and poorly managed, that’s why I am also about to leave.

Thanks for taking time to write this review and sharing your views about when you were here at Sygnum. We appreciate and value your perspective as a team member, and of course totally agree that compliance is here to protect the bank. And it does. To your point, we recognise that the crypto space is constantly evolving in this area and working in a high-growth organisation always has its challenges. However, we constantly ask for feedback, take concrete actions to keep improving and maintain a zero tolerance policy for anyone not behaving in line with our values. We wish you all the best for the future. The Sygnum team

Pros

Well-positioned in the industry (especially compared to competitors); Some employees in certain teams are real high potentials with great skills, knowledge and drive; Values would be great but are not lived across large parts of the organisation.

Cons

Highly political company with a high fluctuation of good people; Multiple low-performers (also high up) that are kept despite their poor performance and sometimes toxic personality; Company tries to save money everywhere at all cost, especially regarding salaries (large salary differences within same function and rank, if employees don't negotiate heavily they loose, HR is not your friend here but only focuses on company interest and tries to keep salaries as low as possible with specious excuses); Not transparent at all regarding salary, promotion requirements, etc.; HR is a mess in general.

Pros

- you can meet some nice people, especially the People Team - you can work with cloud in a bank, with all the issues you can imagine - work/life balance can be achieved - the office is nice

Cons

- a lot of incompetent people on every level (from engineering till C-level management): barely anyone is willing to learn from mistakes, promotion and recognition is given based on who is louder, not what has been achieved - the tech stack is a joke, hard to introduce industry-standards - you almost never see blockchain or anything interesting at all [no IPs, no own ideas, mainly integration of 3rd parties] - C-level management is completely disconnected from the reality, and they are barely approachable - loads of bad practices in the engineering department, and people are not willing to learn/change - empower very inexperienced people, and they deliver crap at the end for loads of money - there is zero career opportunity - the compensation is well below the standard - company values are a joke, they sound really great, but in reality not working at all - there is no compensation change / valuable feedback talk / personal development options - the teams are working in silos, barely talking to each other - Scaled Agile is the worst thing ever, but for some reason at Sygnum, people loves this kind of waterfall and call it "agile"
