There seems to be little room for adding to curriculum for more seasoned tutors who choose to commit to this company a long time, and new tutors are trained to just follow a template and teach how Sylvan wants them to teach. The training is mostly on computer with a few shadow sessions, then off you go like a cashier! That's at least how it felt, for a place that required a 4 year degree.
Also, "active" (more challenging) students tend to get put with newer tutors just out of training, and that's because the center was short-staffed that day. I have known 3 directors over me in a year that I worked for this company.
Prizes in treasure box are often flimsy and short-lived for medium token price ranges, I remember some kids looking in prize box and saying everything was junk, and they were supposed to be in a "privileged program," whatever that means to a kid...
The curriculum could use Bloom's Taxonomy to become more engaging for students since pubic schools rely on that. Not sure if that has been considered or not.
